Quick TNs from the weekend: 2000 Thackrey Orion; 2005 Littorai Les Larmes Pinot

  • 2000 Sean Thackrey Orion - USA, California, Napa Valley, St. Helena (7/11/2009)
I think this is starting to enter its drinking window. The wine is starting to shed its tannins. There is a faint amount of euculyptus that adds to the intrigue and character of the wine. Dark fruit but not heavy. Tobacco, some dark chocolate and dark berries. No heat.
  • 2005 Littorai Pinot Noir Les Larmes - USA, California, North Coast, Anderson Valley (7/11/2009)
Forest floor and earth, mushrooms and red fruits. With some air the predominance of the earthy funk dissipated and this wine really drank well. Plenty going on here to age more.

Thanks for the notes. For some reason I missed the 00 Orion. I do like where the start to go at about 9 years, although sadly the last bottle of the 98 I had went south after a little bit of air. I am going to wait a few more years on the Les Larmes.

I had my first Littorai (the 2008 Sonoma Coast) a few weeks ago and really dug it…

Love Thackery thanks for the notes.
