Question about vineyard workers in Burgundy

I’m over here right now and have spent a lot more time walking around vineyards than I have in the past. It occurred to me that there are no bathroom facilities basically anywhere in or around vineyards. I realize most vineyards there are carved up into many sections and having innumerable mobile bathrooms would be unsustainable. Still, if you’re in the middle of Le Charlemagne on a terribly steep slope and the second cup of morning coffee is kicking in…

Realize it’s not the most awesome of topics but wondered what the story is and if anyone knew.

Isn’t urine the new fertilizer?

I don’t think there’s anything new about it.

This is one of the disadvantages of having high canopies which conceal people in your vineyards from view

Yeah, it was tongue in cheek.

I should check in more often. That’s an interesting topic! Tons of answers from practitioners incoming as expected.

Well, it’s been a while since I worked on the family farm picking peaches and changing irrigation lines (Rhone Valley, south of Valence) but I don’t think there’s been a change in the general view/attitude (for better or worse) that nature’s calling in nature is natural : )
