Yes, I tasted it once in (app.) 2002 … excellent but not very accessable then … I stilll think the 2002 is better … I´ve been VERY impressed with it.
1st question has already been answered: Dujacs Gaudichots becomes part of their Malconsorts (I always wondered how this is possible legally … without loosing the vineyard designation)
2nd: No, they sell it off …
3rd: I think DRC sold the Gaudichots first to Potel … and since 2007 (?) to LeMoine … but I have no proof …
QUESTION: I´ve heard about a D.Laurent Gaudichots from 1989 ? Can anyone confirm?
DRC;1ha Vosne premier cru les suchots,40ar vosne premier cru Les petits monts , les gaudichots and Les reignots.
Normally, they sell it off.
sometimes this wine in the Vosne Romanee cuvee Duvault Blochet with an second selection from the grand cru.
Laurent i find only this: http://www.lacavedumarche.com/boutique/fiche_produit.cfm?ref=G49VR1989D&type=49&code_lg=lg_fr&num=11" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
and 1996 from Jadot?
Roman,
I´m not sure if DRC still owns Les Suchots … maybe they sold it to Frederic (Prieuré-)Roch due to their purchase of RSV in 1988 … but it could also be a long-term-lease …
Aux Reignots is for sure a lease to Louis-Michel Liger-Belair …
Burghound Allen Meadows writes in the last issue about the DRC VR 1er Cru Duvault-Blochet 2008: "… includes the six Grand Crus and the Premier Crus Gaudichots, Petis Monts and Au Dessus des Malconsorts … "
That was not the case with (at least) 1999 and 2002 VR DB …

from the Pearl of the Côte AM;
Suchots has the added cachet of having DRC as the owner of a parcel that is farmed by co-director Henri-Frédéric roch trough his personal Domaine Prieuré-Roch.
Michael,
wine-searcher lists it as DomAINE Laurent … (most probably the usual confusion with Dom.) - and from 2 different sources.
Unfortunately no pics included … and the prices quoted are also not correct.
Well, I´ve actually bought Gaudichots at auction (but not in the US) and I´ve also seen it listed - so the WM-Journal isn´t very reliable IMHO … however it´s rare …
Laurent did bottle a few 89s. There are also bottles from older vintages to be found acquired from their producers much more recently. Much as I’d like to try them the prices are not friendly.
Ray, when you say “old Gaudichots” are you talking about before the majority of Gaudichots was incorporated into La Tache? That would be a different question, right? Bill’s question concerns wine from the 0.8 ha that still today is premier cru Gaudichots versus wine from the enlarged La Tache.
“Old” Gaudichots (pre 1936) is nearly impossible to find, and if (for instance the DRC 1929) for no less than La Tache itself.
My impressions are so far: Gaudichots from the triangle piece at the south-western corner above LT and bordering Au dessus de Malconsorts has a tendency to astringency with slightly dry tannins and a certain rusticity to it - very masculine and structured … bottlings by Thierry Vigot and Regis Forey …
Gaudichots from the north-eastern corner below La Grande Rue seems to be lighter, less meaty, less intense but nicely perfumed … bottling by Machard de Gramont …
If the Potel-bottling comes from the DRC-holding - the narrow strip between Malconsorts and La Tache (plus a tiny piece from the triangle part above) I would say that THIS has the greatest potential: full concentrated and meaty, but also with elegance and fine balance …
However how much is wine-making … and how much terroir remains a question …
I´ve never tasted other bottlings: certainly not DRC pre 1936, not D.Laurent 81989?), not Jadot (1996? other vintages), not LeMoine … and not a Maison Clavelier-bottling from the 80ties I have seen though a shop window only (could have been 1988 ?).
This is an interesting topic that has been discussed here more than once . Everything you need to know about it can be found in Allen Meadows fantastic book : the Pearl of the Cote ( Vosne Romanee ). Including a picture that shows where the vineyard really is . Interestingly , Gaudichots has 3 different parcels that are in 3 different places , they are not even close to each other .
I do not think Gaudichots is the poor man’s La Tache , les Malconsorts would qualify better , I think . A great Gaudichots has more finesse and purity , maybe the poor’s man St.Vivant ? A fabulous Gaudichots is le Moine’s 2007 , 2008 and 2009 . Very difficult to find because he only has 1 barrel . But it tastes like the Rayas of Burgundy ( kirch , pure but not heavy at all )
Thanks Roman - also for the label - sure I thought VIN BLANC was a mistake on wine-searcher
BTW: it´s hard to read but at the bottom of the label (above the signature) I think it´s: Mis en bouteille au Domaine par (or pour)?
