Wine Exchange is doing a tasting this Thursday evening, 6/11/2009 from 4:00–6:00 featuring some wines from Washington upstart O’Shea Scarborough winery. These guys make killer juice with a nice balance of fruit, tannin, terroir and acidity. A local wine rag dubbed them “Big Acid”. I was just there today picking up some more wine (what else is new) and they shared some barrel samples of a few of what will be new 2007 vintage releases that were incredible (and by the way, their current releases don’t suck at all… they are awesome as well and that’s why I was picking up more wine today). Be on the lookout for one of their 2007’s yet to be released called Royale which is a Rhone style blend that had me singing. I’ve already decided to buy at least a half of a case when it’s released. I also sampled their 07 Syrah that also included a wee bit of Viogner I believe. The name for that one is yet to be determined but they’re considering “Fisticuffs at Midnight” or something like that because the wine is so dark in color and it slaps you in the face with it’s presence. Both new wines were outstanding to my palate. Here’s a link to the Winex events page if you‘re interested: You are being redirected...
For the sake of clarity, I have no affiliation with either Wine Exchange or O’Shea Scarborough other than being a customer of both.
