It is been awhile since I have posted. Wanted to share some new developments.
So are you still making wine for Testarossa? Is this a ‘side gig’ or full focus moving forward?
And great seeing you on here!
Cheers
Hi Larry,
Great to hear from you. I’m still full force at Testarossa. I’m a weekend warrior at heart (that’s how my parents raised me, working vineyard on weekend and school during the week). So yes, you could say this is my side hustle.
cheers
If I may ask, what is the cost of tasting at the studio?
From the booking link: Brosseau Wines - Visit
$50, $100 for library-only.
Hi Michael and Chris,
thank you for reaching out
This fee is only for tasting without any wine purchase. Any purchase is applied to this, and so far I have not had to charge anyone. Wine prices range from $20-50 for most of our wines. Library wines are $80.
A little bit about what makes us different, I open on the spot about 5 to 6 wines specific to the tasting group and provide cheese, charcuterie, and or chocolates. I try to be as free form and tailor the experience and wines towards the guest’s interests/preferences. We may do some barrel tasting and review production / wine geeky stuff or just go to the trophy room (soil tubes on the wall) and talk geology, look through some photos of the various terroirs I farm or anything in between before the tasting. We sit down together at what some call a king’s table. It is obscenely large and very vintage. It was a gift from a friend that was moving and ever since, I thought it would be a great table for conversation and making new friends over a glass of wine.
AFA wine selection, some want to focus on Rhone type wines, some like more mainstream varietals, and there are some that are just chill and go with the flow. I tend to raid my library and pull out an older 10+ year old wine as it helps illustrate terroir and my winemaking approach.
Overall for me, I want to cultivate a friendly and comfortable experience to get to know the guests in a sit down and relaxed atmosphere. Since it is just my wife or I as hosts by appointment on weekends, we feel this keeps the experience special for both guest and owner. We open and close the calendar so we can still attend important life family moments. Certainly if one is passing through to the Monterey Peninsula mid week, we enjoy reach outs for a tasting and in most cases can make a visit happen.
Please do reach out if in the area and I would enjoy hosting you. cheers
That sounds terrific, I hope I get a chance to visit someday.
