Premier Cru customer statistics

2010: 100%

2013: 72%
2014: 42%
2015: 87.5%

Yes, just little stickers but I’ve spent a lot of time browsing bottles in the store, have also purchased a fair amount of young and older bottles from them. Never have I seen what is an obvious auction bottle. Of course with older bottles no one can assure provenance. But to imply that a large portion of their acquisitions are from auction and other retailers is a stretch, in my opinion. Unless the poster had some other inside info he’s not disclosed, not a constructive post.

As an aside, I’ve gotten auction bottles from other retailers. RWC to name one.

My pre-arrival stats:

2012 0%
2013 17%
2014 6%
2015 0%

That is ridiculous. It also aligns closely with the exposure of others I know.

It is a fact that Premier Cru has historically been a large buyer at auctions. Whether they still have been the past couple of years and what percentage of their total acquisitions comes from auction, I have no idea.

Ouch.

What kinds of wines?

It would be interesting to know if the variance in percentages has anything to do with (a) the wines purchased or (b) now much the customer has purchased or continues to purchase.

I have received 59% of my 2012 orders (mostly but not all pre-arrival)

I have received most of my 2009 Bordeaux ordered in 2012.

However I have received just 20% of my 2010 Bordeaux ordered in 2012.

The 2010 Bordeaux were my most expensive orders and also the orders that are most below the current market price – $50-100 a bottle below in most cases.

I’ve gotten assurances a lot of that will arrive this year, waiting to see if that is true.

These are all vintage Champagne and Burgundy.

How hard is it to take a sticker off the bottle? Especially if it makes everything look kosher?? It’s worth it to pay an intern to do that…

To the question at hand- are you really going to get enough people to come on here and say I’m owed $XXXXX or XXX bottles? I doubt it.

I’ll play:
2011 100%
2013 38%
2014 16%
2015 0%

I’ve been told as well that a large number of these will come in this fall and winter. I hope it does, because then I’ll feel comfortable buying more. As it is, I’m at my limit for exposure. My overall bottle count pending is about 100.

my stats
2004 100%
2005 100%
2006 100%
2007 100%
2008 100%
2009 100% (traded 4-07 Clos des Papes for 6-04 Comtes)
2010 100%
2011 100%
2012 100%
2013 85%
2014 72%
2015 14%

How does that compare to your MI outstanding orders?

Are people posting percentages received of all PC orders (including in-stock) or are they posting percentages of only those wines ordered as pre-arrivals?

Not much difference for me. It is interesting seeing where others are with prearrivals and what’s missing - agree it would also be interesting but a lot more work to look at what’s in and what’s still missing.

BTW, the 07 Clos des Papes is the wine where I was told their source fell through and given a choice between swapping out or having them continue to try to source it. They were pretty up-front about that (and about the 10 Hudelot Noellats, where they had the wine and offered delivery but recommended that I take a refund instead).

I ask because one would expect a much higher % delivered on in-stock orders than pre-arrival orders. At least that was the the case for me when I was a customer. So those who buy mostly or exclusively in-stock wouldn’t have data relevant to those who want to judge the risk of pre-arrival purchases.

With MI I am complete. 2009- 100%, 2010- 100% remember I got a almost a full refund on the 2011’s.

I don’t get that. Why would they say that?

Maybe this - ?

Ah. Thanks.

I have not ordered for a few years so I am not someone who actively holds a great amount of skin in this. My lack of orders are not due to disappointment in deliveries but because two massive college tuitions are killing my budget. But looking at my stats I received 615 out of 619 bottles between 2004 and 2011. The 4 bottles they could not deliver (Ramonet) they made good with a 97 La Landonne and 89 Hermitage La Pavilion. Happy customer.
