This is good information. Thank you. ![]()
Anyone have the '14-'17 Marchand-tawse-Maume Mazis recently? How was it? Worth their price?
I’ve had a couple bottles of the 98 Faiveley Mazis which I’ve really enjoyed. On the bigger and slightly less refined side of Burgundy, but very nice all the same with a good it of power.
How was the '06 Jadot Mazis? We’ve got one kicking around the cellar that we took a flyer on and have no idea when to open or what to expect.
A recent 1995 Jadot was lovely.
I have also enjoyed Mazis-Chambertin from Harmand-Goeffroy.
If one is not going to age Grand Cru Burgundy, why buy it?
I am sitting on a few bottles of that, should open one soon.
Hey buddy, hope you’ve been well! Still so greatful for all the info you gave me about Corton and more a little while back.
I just scored a pristinely stored 2002 Roty Mazis. Have you ever tried that one?
Thanks!!
Haven’t tried it Paul. I love Roty!
I have gotten a few things from these guys that I’m so excited to try:
2005 and 2009 Charmes TVV
2001 Griotte
2002 and 2014 Mazis
Seems like the GC’s are out there in minute quantities.
A whole bunch of it though in 6 and 12 packs in the current HDH Auction. Like the guy who was the deBeers of Roty, selling his whole collection.
Recently I was served a Mazis Chambertin blind. Texturally I thought it was Chambolle. Red fruited and floral on the nose. Incredibly aromatic. Red fruit core on the palate. Long finish. It ended up being a 2007 Harmand Geoffroy Mazis Chambertin. Elegant and mineral. I loved it.
Another 07 success!
I have that Geoffrey in ‘09 and ‘10. Had one if the 2009’s and it was big and dark and quite muddled. It came together and improved by maybe 20% over a couple hours, but was still good but not great. Will wait some years before opening another.
That’s pretty typical of the vintage, 10 would likely drink better.
U think the ‘09 will improve in time?
Of course. Didn’t you read the posts on the other thread where I thought 09 would be better than 10 in time? A lot of the wines just aren’t ready because it’s a very structured vintage.
Ah, yes, I would have assumed that, based on you saying that ‘09 might beat ‘10 in a number of places. just wondered if you had experience with this specific wine…
I had that wine a number of years ago but not recently. It was drinking well early on but so were a lot of 09s. The 10 I haven’t had in many years but would expect it to be open.
Micheal, how does the experience with Marechale jive with ‘Producer Producer, Producer’?
