Portland let's drink some damn Burgundy!

Any thought of a further theme or vintage range? If we’re all going to fight over the same bottles on winebid, might as well narrow the field!

Good question: I’d like to keep it relatively open for people to bring within their comfort zone. I plan on bringing something with age on it( 90 or older) and a nice bottle of bubbles as well. That being said, if ya’ll want to drill down on a more specific theme- let her rip…

Wherever and whenever… I’ll drink burgs. Got some 05s that should be strong.

Your singing my tune, thanks for the heads up email from Steve Miller. Count me in for this as I’m sure there’s a few dusty old goodies needing some friends to share.

We’re getting close to a full table. Who is making the reservations?

We have the back room for the 10th of March. I’m thinking that we should cap this at 10-12 people.

Tentative list for now: confirm if you’re in our out and we’ll start a wait list if need be. Also, sounds like Tabla will do a special menu for this… [cheers.gif]

Can I get in on this??

Are we doing this blind? Jim could easily slip some Maresh in that would keep everyone guessing.

I’d like to attend. Right now things are clear for me on the 10th. There’s a slim chance I’ll be on a business trip then, but being that it’s not booked yet, I could hopefully work around it.

I would like a bit more guidance on what arena we’re playing in within Burgundy (age, region, and for lack of a better term, “caliber”) just so I know what to bring, but that could be figured out at a later date.

David

You’re first on the wait list!
As to theme: I’m leaning towards keeping it wide open having no idea what people own and are comfortable spending. I think there are a few here that will bring some ripping bottles and others that will bring what they have or can afford. Seems reasonable to get things started.

I’m bringing a 87 Dujac Clos De La Roche and a surprise bottle of bubbles.

I am in for March 10, and I like the idea of keeping the theme open. I don’t have much in the cellar, so will probably bring a 97 Drouhin Savigny-lès-Beaune 1er Cru Les Serpentières…and maybe something else I can dig up.

Any idea what the menu at Tabla is going to run us? And what do we know about corkage there?

Looking forward to it.

Joey

I’ll give them a call about corkage. We should probably throw some ideas out there for what kind of food we want them to put together. I’ll let those that have actually eaten at Tabla take the lead on that front.

Suggest items that will make the Pinot sing !

Shane,
Thanks for getting this finalized.

I just have to make sure this isn’t when I am in Palm Springs which my wife booked for the family.

As for menu, Anthony is doing some great things and probably could have some suggestions for us on Burg pairings. If I get a chance, I will stop in. I was just there but they were super busy with their Sherry dinner.

As for wine, my thoughts have always been bring what you feel comfortable sharing. It is a great opportunity to geek out on wine that you might not have otherwise. The last dinner with Oregon Pinot Noir was a tremendous surprise based on the wines we had for ~8 people.

I rarely ever check this section. All full up which is good to see. Couldn’t do that date anyway as I will be in North Carolina. Maybe next time around. I do own a bit of Burgundy.

Hey guys, please give my spot to David Paris. I really don’t think I’ll be able to make it given my March travel calendar.

Have fun, raise a toast to Aussie Shiraz in my honor!
