Ponsot CDR 00 / 01 ??? Help with pick

Hello all! Which one of these two would you pick at a restaurant at the exact same price? I am thinking the 01 but I have not had any of them so hopefully somebody here has? I am also looking at Vogue 1. Cru 99 which is also a possibility [cheers.gif]

Thanks in advance

Mikael, have had both over the past month and the 2000 was the better wine. With the caveat, as you know, that we only drink bottles the 2000 had more bright fruit, alluring nose and secondary characteristics. The 2001 IMHO needs more time to develop the same level of complexity and enjoyment. You can’t go wrong with either of them though. Enjoy!

Thanks Carlos

Not tasted both CdR, but 2000 is really fine now, and also ChM Charmes 2000 is better IMHO than 2001.

In general, I like 01 much more than 00 for most burgs. But 00 is drinking better at this point.

Just had the '00:

*** Domaine Ponsot
Clos de la Roche Vielles Vignes 2000
Clos de la Roche Grand Cru

C: Transparent red-brown.
P: Notes of cherries.
Just lovely! Light, delicate, transparent, long, interesting and compelling. Vive la Bourgogne!

It’s the only one I’ve had, so can’t help with other vintages.

'00 all day long if drinking now, and without a very long decant…

Thanks all! 00 it will be then - will report back

'00 for me.

I too prefer the 2000 to the 2001.
Per the comments in the '85 Ponsot thread, I’ve experienced bottle variation. A 375ml bottle purchased in Burgundy (opened in 2008) was very elegant and pure. A 750ml bottle purchased in the states was incredibly advanced, not showing like a grand cru, and a shadow of the wine from the smaller bottle. I’ve drunk the 2001 just once–it was rather uninteresting, not giving much on the nose or palate–perhaps closed, but my thought at the time was that it was just not a great wine.
