I’m toying with the idea of opening a bottle of Macdonald 2022 in early-mid December this year to taste the vintage.
I wanted to invite (up to) 10 other local Berserkers if they’d like to join. 2 oz pour, no cost. Just the opportunity to try the wine.
Would host at Harvest Thyme Tavern in Davidsonville, MD. A friend owns the restaurant and would join for the tasting. I’m gauging interest, but should we decide to move forward, some logistics:
No cost for the taste, but any food/other drink would be on your own tab. Food is exception and you’ll be shocked at the wine list.
RSVP would be required.
Will likely occur on a Wednesday to not impact the restaurant - around 6 or 7 pm.
Why? I’d like to get to know others in the area that similarly love wine.
I’m interested if I can make logistics work (work, family, kids, carpools etc.). If you’re interested, I can bring a starter white or another red for the group to taste. My cellar is mostly old world.
I’d like to ask we not bring additional bottles, but instead we can pickup a bottle or a glass while we are there. The selection is outstanding and since Rik is not charging us for the use of the restaurant, I think it’s only fair to buy a glass while we are there.
I’ve had the 2022 many times, now, including last week at Bottega. It only needs a double decant for 1 hour. It’s gonna knock your socks off. It’s very powerful, dense and masculine. Lonnnnnng life ahead, but like most good 22s, can be enjoyed now if you can handle the tannin.
