Two oz of six wines and two winery tasting rooms = one bottle of wine. That’s why the ABC limits pours. I understand the reason for more wine in the glass to get more of the nose, but it’s not going to happen.
Tasting rooms supply dump buckets. If you don’t wish to spit in those then do as I do–bring along one of those plastic red Solo cups for spitting. A very small number of people actually spit–one out of a hundred maybe.
This makes me appreciate the FLX which I visit about twice as often as CA. This past summer’s trip I stopped by four wineries, only one of which I had been to before. Three of the four the tastings were hosted by the winemaker themself and I wasn’t charged a tasting fee at any (granted I purchased at least a bottle or two at each). Those that had one listed it was never over $10.
