I don’t think SQN is that polarizing. Most comments I hear are either that’s great or that’s ok but way overpriced. I think I’ve only heard one, that sucks.
I think maybe Linne Calado kind of fits. I also think aged Ridge (everything but Montebello) is pretty polarizing. Lot’s of love/hate there because they can be so funky when first poured.
There’s actually a great thread on that from a few years ago. Unfortunately if it’s not been nuked then it’s been neutered, with the winemaker making an ass of himself and everything. One of the greatest train wrecks in the history of wine boards for sure.
Paul Galli… Hey, I thought of qualifying it, but I figured Oregonians would be prescient enough to know this wasn’t a sweeping indictment, just an observation.
?
I think in light of the thread subject he’s not making a sweeping statement Bob and an insult of that order is not necessary. Some people swear by Oregon Pinots and some of us don’t get it. Thus they can be polarizing, capiche?
Jeff - I do know many others that absolutely hate Pegau…and I know many more who love Pegau and all the funkiness that comes with buying their wines.
That said, probably more polarizing would be something like Mollydooker. I don’t know if many domestic wineries would qualify “on a global scale” since wineries like Pride aren’t very global in reach.
