Pinot Days in Tokyo (sort of)

Pinot Days in Tokyo…(our own homespun version anyway)

After 2 bottles of the restaurant’s proprietary 50% Tocai Friulano/ 50% Pinot Grigio blend that is stunning, a few friends and I began our journey away from sobriety with our friend the Pinot Noir grape.

Would anyone care to venture a guess as to the wines rated 1, 2, and 3 by the group of Japanese aficionados of California wine?

I had an Amalie Robert pinot at the inaugural Indie Wine Festival in Portland and was very impressed. Since then, I’ve never even seen a bottle. I’m wondering where they’re selling the stuff.

Oh the Amalie Robert was magnificent. In fact it placed number two out of three in top runners.

Third place went to another that I brought (I was responsible for bring the Amalie Robert as well), and that was…

our board favorite, Sojourn (perhaps my overall favorite now and in a few years).

The surprise to me and perhaps it should not have been given that I am also a huge fan of it was…

Guesses?
