Petit Verdot from Andalusia

We just came back from Andalusia. Visited few wineries around Ronda. I was blown away by quality of their wines - both red and white. Tasted Petit Verdot and Syrah which they mostly use for varietal wines. I never had before 100% Petit Verdot, only in blends.
Brought back few bottles.

Bodega Fernández Bolet Su Senoria Petit Verdot 2016
It’s fantastic - fresh, with ripe tannins. Lots of black fruit, tobacco. Balanced, everything is in the right place. 93 points. Cheap for the quality - only 27 Euro at the winery. They ship but shipping cost to the US is astronomical - 240 Euro per case.

Briceland PV from Humboldt County is a terrific wine and good value. Check it out at Berserkerday (if not before).

Second this.

Also, the best 100% Petit Verdot I’ve had is also from Spain, just outside of the Ribera del Duero AVA and down the road from Vega Sicilia.

Thanks Chris. Where do I buy it? I checked winesearcher but could not find anything being sold in the US.

I loved it out there. People at the wineries were extremely nice and welcoming. The owner of Bodega Fernandez drove specifically to the winery after the hours so I could buy their wine. She was so nice that I felt bad to get only three bottles but my luggage was already overweight.

Love PV.

Good news is it can sit on the counter for a week and still be coiled.
