Pardon my ignorance by why is this bottling so expensive?

Whoa, I had no idea, I have read that this was released but had no idea it was this rare.

So how was this broken up, old time listers? 3 packs? a bottle at a time, your first born???

Erich - I think 2 barrels = 50 cases = 600 bottles. Some (not all) mailing list members were allocated 3 bottles each

Are you guessing $2k for the lot or per bottle? The latter would be awfully rich. Manfred’s Chimere bottling last year has gone for north of $2k on Winebid, and keep in mind that was for a magnum with smaller production (I think ~400).

I’ve been on the SQN list for about six years and was not offered any Pearl Clutcher.

I’ve heard that stray btls have sold from $1,200-$2,000/btl. So $2,000 for three btls would actually be “cheap”

The world has gone mad, but SQN is in very hot demand at the moment - especially the rarest/oldest

2K per bottle! I think the Pearl Clutcher is more rare than Chimere(800 bottles)… and it’s 100% SQN. Those SQN collectors buying up the roses for $400-42k…and older stuff like HDR for 4k will want this in their collection! Just my guess.

IIRC, PurpleReign of NJ was one of the bidders for the rosé that when ever 40K so next Sunday should be fun watching the action.

How many people are there in the world, do you believe, that are in that esteemed category of diehard SQN collectors who would also spend $1000-$2000+
on a bottle of Pearl Clutcher just to say they own one of the 600 bottles?

I personally know of one.

There are at least Two right now that would spend almost $800 per bottle and I’m guessing there are several more with deep pockets who won’t show up till Sunday. I’m sure we’ll see over $1K per bottle.
