PDX Wine Tasting Group - First 2026 Tasting

A group of WB’ers and others got together at Portland Wine Storage a few times last Fall for thematic blind tastings, and I am posting this invitation on this board now as it makes sense for planning purposes. Our first get together in 2026 will be on Wednesday, February 4, 6 p.m, Portland Wine Storage. The theme: Chateauneuf-du-Pape, any vintage, bottles priced $50 or above. As before, this will be a blind tasting. Folks bring various things to nibble on (bread, crackers, cheese, etc.), so feel free to do the same. Surprise bottles also have a tendency to show up, too. I’m tagging a number of WB’ers who have attended this group in the past, just to make sure they see this: @Jeremy_Charmak, @BrianJC, @Monte_Mast, and @john_enea. Please feel free to invite non-WB’ers too. Let me know if you’re planning on attending. I hope to see you there for what I’m sure will be a rich dive into this premiere Southern Rhone appellation!

I won’t be in town then, but I am up there for a week or two every month, so perhaps some time in the future.

Will do, Wes. Thanks for connecting. Emery

My sister might make an appearance @ShanaCampbell

Hey Emery, I was just wondering about when the next tasting would be. Sounds great. I will be there, and will be bringing my wife, as Rhone is her favorite wine region. Once again, thanks for organizing.

Great, see you there John.

That would be great. See you then.

Nice, look forward to it.

I’ll be there plus one. Bringing a friend Autumn Webring who works in the wine biz. Looking forward to meeting you all!

Shana

If there’s room, my wife, Emma, and I would love to join. Thank you.

Shana - welcome to the WineBerserkers community! Glad that you and Autumn can make the tasting! Look forward to meeting you. Emery

Hi Brady, that’s great, look forward to you and your wife Emma joining! Emery

Hi Emery- thanks so much. I had a trip to Lyon canceled in Nov so thought this would be a nice little consolation prize. I joined WB a few years back, admittedly for the a sale, but have wanted to get more involved. Leave it to Brig, who lives in SoCal to come up here and introduce me to amazing wines and people here in my own back yard like Jim at Patricia Green, Marcus at Goodfellow, Vincent and others, all relationships he fostered on WB. Impressive community!
We’ll see you in a couple weeks!

Look forward to meeting you, Shana. I’m a big fan of Patricia Green, Goodfellow, and Vincent too! I was actually at Vincent yesterday, introducing a wine friend to Vincent’s wines and approach. So cool to live in proximity to so many great Oregon producers.

My wife Kathryn and I will be there too.

Marshall, Glad you can make it!

We also hit Kelly Fox, she’s elusive and the tasting room without signage can be a little hard to find (by design?!) but luckily the wines are not! I really enjoyed every wine she makes. Brig posted on WB about our tastings at all of those places, he’s so good at that.
It’s a gift we live a hour or 2 from all of these amazing places, i especially loves the smaller, quaint, wine makers come out to talk with you (when Brig is there and knows so much he can hold an intelligent convo with any of them) but I get the benefits of that like our last visit to Patricia Green. Brig just mentioned, “if Jim is around, tell him Brig Campbell is here” and Jim took a break and came over to say hi with his grape stained boots and clothes and they start chatting and soon dive deep into conversation about harvest and production and none of us know what they are talking about but Brig translates and Jim is having fun. Someone who knows the production and asking smart questions and it was just really fun to see them having such a good time. Jim starting pulling out bottles, “there are only a couple more of these around” and I almost felt guilty drinking them, like do I deserve this special wine? We spent 3 hours there and really had such a great time.

Great story, Shana, about your tasting at Patricia Green and your brother! Thanks for sharing.

We have two non-WB friends who might want to come. Is there still room?
