Pasta on a Stormy Day

Tonight, after a day of clouds, wind, and occasional rain sprinkles, we had a lovely Crab Alfredo on Saffron Fettucine. out on our balcony, somewhat protected from the winds and rains. This was enjoyed very much with a 2002 Jean Boillot et fils Meursault ‘Genervières’ - moldy cork top & cork sauturated more than halfway up; medium green gold in color; rich nose and flavors of spicy ripe pears, green apples, and minerals; rich mid-palate of white fruit and adequate acidity; with a very long, spicy fruit finish. A nice meal out on our balcony watching the wind ruffle the pines and junipers, the hummingbirds battling over our feeder, and the rains surrounding.

Then for dessert in our den, while watching ‘On Her Majestys Secret Service’ (via TiVo), we had four cheeses: St. Andre, Affinois Goat Brie, Old Chatham Sheeps’ Milk Camembert, & Brie de Meaux; with raisins, mixed nuts, and two fruit pastes - plum and ginger-orange, with a 2002 Nine Gables Amador Zinfandel Pifari Whispering Pines Vineyard (it turns out we had Cedar Vista the other night, I mis-spoke. The Whispering Pines was a little more austere than the Cedar Vista. It was rich. ripe red and black berry fruit, adequate acidity, with a long berry fruit finish. It was very good with the cheeses, dried fruit, nuts and fruit paste.

Duuaaaaammm that sounds good…
