Paso Robles Visit

I liked most of the wines and bought the Viognier just to put it in a blind tasting to watch peoples heads explode.

Based on my experience in Paso, I think Kurt is spot on. In fact I have been to all 3 in the past couple months and are my favorites in Paso (admittedly I have been to less than 10 places down there so I’m sure there are other great places to try).

In the past I have also visited Booker a number of times which is also great but a much more Napa-like experience. I visited Linne Calodo on my most recent visit a few weeks ago and it was enjoyable as well.

Also a potentially unpopular view given the sentiment expressed above in this thread - I have been to Herman Story and would not recommend it unless you are looking for a very “gonzo” experience. The people were nice but I found the wine to be very much over the top and kind of disappointing. The 15.9% abv rose kind of summed up the experience. The one thing that recommends it is if you are staying in downtown Paso you can walk there - and likely stagger home.

That sounds like an amazing trip! Paso Robles has such a diverse wine scene with everything from small, boutique tasting rooms to larger, well-established wineries. Since you’re looking for both top-quality and great value experiences, a well-planned itinerary can make all the difference to hit just the right spots that match your tastes.

Whoever your choose for a driver/car service, make sure they’re TCP licensed, there are quite some options out there that could put you in a tough spot were something to happen. Have been to many Paso wineries over decades.
Now for me it all comes down to one: Stillwater’s.
Off the beaten path out east beautiful place… Paul the owner is a great guy.
Last few visits we got some 2013 and 2015 library wines that are incredible. I never join wine clubs but couldn’t pass this one up.
Drinking a 2020 Expressions blend while writing this, freakin good.
