This may come as an odd suggestion. Certainly not mainstream. There is a Restaurant Called Frenchie. Takes about 2-3 months advance notice for a reservation. But, they have a lounge with same menu across the street where it is first come first serve and line starts forming around 5:30 isa and opens at 6PM. Great eclectic menu and wine list! In the lounge they will seat you at communal tables where you tend to meet a fairly diverse and interesting crowd. even there twice and always a hoot. Order as if eating small plates and share amongst your party!
