I am a Chappellet member who really enjoys their chenin, and I think Palisades Canyon is a step up in complexity. It has great brightness to it, much like Chap’s, and great mouthfeel (I’m guessing from how it’s made sur lie), which I think is the big differentiator between this and Chap’s. When I tasted with Steve and Felicia last year, their Chenin was my favorite of their three offerings
This is helpful, I’m sold. Thanks, Charlie. Went ahead and took the PS offering too after reading some great reviews. Stoked
Went with just the CB. Heard good things about it.
Offer live for first-time buyers. Offered one 3pk each of PS and CB. Took both.
Does anyone want to split the 3-packs of Petite Sirah and/or Chenin?
I’m in Los Angeles, but driving up to Napa/Sonoma early May so can split with anyone in the area.
Only need one of each (My wallet is a Berserker Day victim).
Looks like the offer for the 22 cab will be on October 7. I’ll be a buyer regardless, but just curious if anyone’s tried this one yet?
I’m in as well, but have not tried it yet. Headed there in November for a tour and tasting.
Have not had the ‘22, but the property (and Felicia and Steve) are amazing. I learned so much.
Excited to see the option to wish for a mag this release too!
If you don’t mind me asking, how did you setup a tasting? Just email and ask?
I’ll be there in a little over a week. Hoping we’ll get a sneak peek at the new vintage!
Yes, that is exactly what I did. I had received some emails from Steve when I first signed up for the list, so I just asked if they could host my wife and I. We spent close to 90 minutes walking the vineyard and learning about head trained vines, and then did a quick tasting in their garden. Nicest people ever and so passionate about farming, old vines, and wine. And all their wine is phenomenal.
Steve emailed me after my last purchase to say and introductory thank you and I mentioned that I would be in Napa in November. He immediately responded with an invitation. Could not have been more friendly and hospitable.
Thanks for the feedback! Sounds like a wonderful group of folks there and I’m very much looking forward to purchasing and tasting their wine. Excited for Oct 7 ![]()
Notes from Winemaker Graeme MacDonald
The 2022 Cabernet Sauvignon is a beautiful wine with notes of black cherry, currants, bitter chocolate mixed with red pepper flakes. The purity of fruit transcends into the mouth along with firm, integrated structure making this a candidate for cellaring. In the winery, small amounts of Cabernet Franc (9.8%) and Petit Verdot (3.7%) are co-fermented, ensuring complete integration of these three varieties.
I was told by 2 people i trust that the 22 cab from Palisades is one of the best 22s they have tasted in the valley. I will be a buyer of a 3 pak at least.
Did they send out an email on the release date for the 22 cab? I don’t think I ever saw one despite buying 2021s.
October 6
I received a save the date email today that on 3 Oct previous buyers will have early access to purchase starting at 10 AM PDT. General access will be 7 Oct at 10 AM PDT.
Interesting… Mine said Oct 6
