Makes me want to go back (was there almost 20yrs ago) but I do agree that once you take in the city for a few days, maybe it is just a quick stop in the future (unless I take my son there) as I prefer other parts of Italy for return visits.

The photo of the Grand Canal and the Marina from the tower of San Giorgio Maggiore reminded me of my stay at the Marina shown in your picture. I was fortunate to have sailed to Venezia from Croatia a few years ago. Our crew was lucky to get the last slip in the marina. We stayed one night; it was magical waking up to see Basilica di San Marco and Palazzo Ducale across the canal.
