Orlando

Look at all the Range Rovers.

I will end up in Lake Mary Fl before long for some work trips. Seems to be on the right side of Orlando (away from the them parks). Anything worthwhile up that way?

You retiring there too?

Don’t be ridiculous… retirement happens in Boca Raton

Oh, yeah, no kids.

Bumping this with insight for travelers-

Golden Hour Wine in Baldwin Park delivers to Disney and Universal for free, the full inventory is online, and corkage at the Disney hotel restaurants is $25. If you want to drink well at the parks, that’s the move.

Selam is out by Sea World. Amazing Ethiopian food, very reasonable corkage (maybe $8-10).

Bombay Street Kitchen isn’t too far from the parks, really great Indian food, corkage is fair (maybe $15).

If you go into Orlando proper-

Taste of Chengdu is the must-go spot for authentic Chinese. Reasonable corkage as well.

There are a handful of great Vietnamese restaurants in the Mills 50 area. Pick one- Pho Vinh, Pho Hoa, Saigon Noodle, Z Asian, etc. All let you BYO with Fair corkage.

The Strand is a great spot for “New American” style food. Don’t BYO there, the list is legit. Plenty of Rosenthal options always available, plus a lot of deeper cuts from smaller importers.

Soseki is a Omakase spot with a great wine/sake program.

Deli Desires is a to-go only spot for bialy sandwiches that are unmatched.

Go to Golden Hour for glasses/bottles for on and off premise, no corkage.

If you want cocktails, hit up Sunroom or Guesthouse on Mills.

That’s a start. Orlando is great, dismissing it based on the parks is silly. There are so many great options I didn’t list here.
