REVIEWS for the 2023s

Saint-Aubin 1er “Sous Roche Dumay” 2023
90-93 pts Jasper Morris
Mid lemon yellow from this slightly sunnier site, albeit at altitude. Dense concentration on the palate, still fresh enough but the white fruit flesh is a little more apparent, which I find to be quite a good thing. Gets the evening sun. Drink from 2027-2031. Tasted Nov 2024.
- 20+ year old vines, west facing, 350m altitude
- Very little clay and lots of limestone (90% chalk)
- Aged in barrel (25% new)

Saint-Aubin 1er "Clos du Meix” 2023
91-93 pts Jasper Morris
Pale lemon and lime. A little tension to the nose, mixed white fruit, clean, with some depth, beginning to add a little flesh through the middle, and certainly persistent. This may be a lesser known 1er Cru but the 2023 has all that it needs. Drink from 2027-2030. Tasted Nov 2024.
- Very steep site
- 300m altitude, 40+ year old vines
- Reddish clay and limestone soil (20cm of dirt)
- Fermented and aged in 2/3rd older 500L barrels, 1/3rd older 228L barrels

Saint-Aubin 1er " La Chateniere " 2023
91-93 pts Jasper Morris
Attractive lemon yellow tints to the colour. The bouquet is refined, yet discreet, perhaps a fennel note with the fresh fruit. This is very satisfying in the mouth, the perfect balance of ripe grapes with lively acidity, a very pleasing flesh and excellent aftertaste. Picked a week after Sous Roche Dumay. Drink from 2027-2031. Tasted Nov 2024.
91-93 Burghound*
Pretty and airy aromas include those of petrol, lemon rind, apple and pear. There is markedly better concentration to the vibrant and solidly powerful flavors that exude an evident bead of minerality on the chiseled and youthfully austere finale. This is an exercise in contrast as the mid-palate is fleshy and generously proportioned yet the finish is compact and linear. Excellent quality and this should amply repay mid-term keeping. • Very steep slope, reddish clay with lots of limestone (20cm of dirt)
• 45+ year old vines
• Fermented and aged in 500L barrels (10% new)

Saint-Aubin 1er "Murgers des Dents de Chien” 2023
92-94 pts Jasper Morris
Another glowing colour with a primrose tint. There is a faint reduction on the nose alongside an evident concentration. This is currently more tightly wound than En Remilly, but should emerge with a similar result. Today I give En Remilly the narrow edge. Drink from 2027-2032. Tasted Nov 2024.
- From one of the top sites in St. Aubin, bordering En Remilly and just above Grand Cru Chevalier-Montrachet
- 350m altitude, 40+ year old vines
- Very rocky, limestone soil
- Fermented and aged in 500L barrels (10% new)

Saint-Aubin 1er "En Remilly” 2023
Star rating: 5 ***** (Jasper’s Highest Star Rating)
92-95 pts Jasper Morris
An even light lemon colour. The limestone shows up well on the nose without excess sun, no roasted stones aspect. Beautifully juicy on the palate, with a lift in every sip, optimum ripeness, the first wine picked and got just exactly right. Bravo. Drink from 2027-2032. Tasted Nov 2024.
90-92 Burghound*
A slightly riper and much more citrus-inflected nose speaks of spice, floral and wet stone nuances. The gorgeously textured and lilting middle weight flavors possess a super-sleek mouthfeel before culminating in a borderline aggressively mineral-driven finish that could also use better depth. Drink: 2029+ Burghound Outstanding! Review Date: 06/2025

- One of the rockiest sites in St. Aubin – very difficult to replant vines
- 70m from Montrachet
- 35+ year old vines
- Fermented and aged in 2/3rd older 500L barrels, 1/3rd older 228L barrels

Chassagne-Montrachet 1er "En Cailleret” 2023
93-96 pts Jasper Morris
Drinking Window 2026 - 2035
Pale lemon and lime. The bouquet is clearly riper here, yet the slight honeysuckle aromatics are underlaid by a more classical stony profile. White fruit through the middle and then terrific grip to finish. This is more backward in its development but promises extremely well. Exceptional persistence. Drink from 2028-2033. Tasted Nov 2024.
91-93 Burghound*
A deft application of wood is present on the vaguely exotic aromas of citrus confit, spice, passion fruit and acacia. The gorgeously textured, delicious and vibrant middle weight flavors brim with both minerality and sappy dry extract where the latter also serves to buffer the moderately firm acid spine shaping the youthfully austere, dry and focused finale. This balanced effort should age effortlessly.Burghound Outstanding! Review Date: 06/2025

- From the very top of the Caillerets slope
