Looks like we’ll be starting harvest tomorrow! ![]()
Tonight might be good!
Enjoy. Saw the first load of grapes bobbing down Hwy 29 yesterday.
Sounds like it really snuck up on you?
Wow, when did veraison start?
Wow. Things are behind in the Santa Cruz Mtns, less than halfway colored up. Might be 1-2 weeks later than last year when all is said and done?
We tend to be in a bit of a banana belt. No one anywhere around us is close. Our closest neighbors just started picking for sparkling. I don’t know that it really snuck up on us. I just thought if I kept my eyes closed and fingers crossed I could keep it away… ![]()
Time to get the garden hose out!
I was surprised to see how quickly things are moving here in Calistoga. A couple of vines have gone to 100% color in the past couple of days.
YOWSA! We haven’t even started to SAMPLE any of our stuff yet!!!
Good luck . . . hope you’re done with bottling (-:
We are about 90% at Seven Stones. Pinot at 25.9 brix already. Hahahaha! Don’t pick!!! ![]()
I am going to take away your refractometer! No picking until minimum October 1st this time! [suicide.gif]
Most of our estate Zins are only about 17-18 even in our hottest vineyards.
I’m still 4-5 weeks away at least from anything being close.
Tough love for winemakers Roy?
I checked in on my vineyards (mostly around Sebastopol) yesterday and they are 80-90% through veraison…90% actually, cuz the less colored bunches will get clipped. Nice looking…small berries and tiny clusters. Hopefully the weather gods are nice to us. I would love to have a late pick.
There would not be anything left! I believe you are due here at the farm on August 25th…we can argue about it then! ![]()
And tasty?

Didn’t know there was a BB member from Talley here - I was in the tasting room on 3 or 4 September with my wife and 2 little kids - the kids loved the pinot BTW - said it reminded them of Welch’s! Just kidding…wish we could have shipped some Talley and Beckmen, but no go in MA. All I’ve seen since I got back is the Bishop’s Peak.
I’m sorry that you didn’t stop by the production area. We were here all weekend processing pinot noir.
Are you looking for retailers in Boston that sell Talley? I’d be happy to try to get any info for you that you are looking for.
Hi Leslie,
I assume if they sell Bishops Peak they would go through the same distributor for Talley, although your Matrot counterparts over in Burgundy have been challenging with different distributors for different labels, but last I checked, San Luis Opisbo was not following the French distribution model! I’m thinking your main brand just sells out quickly around here and frankly I did not have Central Coast on the radar much before I started planning my trip. I’ll check with my local retailer to see what’s left.
Sorry we missed you, if we’re out there again, hope to see you. Good luck with the vintage.
Looks like we’ll be starting harvest tomorrow!
Almost 26 Brix? Please tell me that wasn’t in Rosemary’s or Rincon!
