Asked my orthopaedic surgeon about it, he didn’t recommend it since it hasn’t yet been approved for human use and data is lacking. Had cortisone shot for the radial tunnel and that’s about 80% of the way there but the torn tendon is still a significant issue and I want to accelerate its healing for the long term
In my experience you would get significant benefit from it. I’ve seen very mixed results from PRP/dry needling for that purpose. I had a pretty bad right triceps tendinosis which entirely healed with BPC/TB; dealing with a milder case on the left and may run another course. Stem cells work too but are much more expensive and annoying.
A lot of ortho groups here recommend BPC/TB to every patient. I just ran into a guy at the gym today who had recent labrum surgery using it that’s a couple months ahead of schedule for recovery.
I also completely disagree that clinical data is lacking, even if there aren’t trials per se, millions of people have taken it in the last 10 years.
Yes, I checked into this as well but similarly lacking in real-word human data trials. Dry needling was also suggested but my case was a bit more severe than what dry needling primarily benefits. Surgery is the next level but I don’t want to deal with that so if this doesn’t work, and I can’t convince my orthopaedic specialist to try BPC/TB, shockwave therapy, or prolotherapy then I’ll just deal with it per the thread title…just an old folks’ thing
I mean your orthopedist can’t prescribe bpc/tb-500 yet anyways; maybe early next year.
Supposedly PRP is more effective when given with hyrulonic acid for my knee, so got them at the same time.
Wow, was that painful. I am hesitant if to do it again. Maybe a week apart would still be enhancing the PRP with less pain?
Let me know how this works for you. I’m having the same issue and it’s ruining my quality of life. Can’t even pick up a wine bottle with my arm extended.
Waiting to see here. #MeToo. Seriously affecting 3-plate presses just to stay ahead of Todd! I follow the natural method of recovery - do nothing. Leave it alone. Worked before but took like 9 months. In the meantime, I try to cycle more.
All of you would likely benefit from bpc-157/tb-500.
the only better treatment besides surgery would be stem cell treatments.
I will. Our own @Chris_Seiber mentioned he had it done 6 years ago and it worked great for him, and another good friend said the same, same elbow, same issue, 5 years running. The post-procedure recovery is frustrating, as you lose use of your arm for a few days, and you have to learn to do things with your other arm, but it slowly comes back. Today I’m about 70% back to use, still can’t fully extend my arm but the progress is linear and noticeable. The healing process takes weeks, of course, but I will let you know. I know the struggle with what you stated, picking up a wine bottle with arm extended - or even trying to open a jar. Some things make sense when you think of what a tendon tear might cause pain, but you don’t think of things like that. Clearly that tendon has significant use in twists and weight-bearing and subtle movements as well as the high-impact movements that (likely) caused the injury.
This is an all-you contest, I’ll never get there, nor will I want to. I have little bewbies…
Not sure if I was included in the “all”. Knee arthritis.
I didn’t think it was prescribable, not being fda approved . Is it over the counter? Is it painful like PRP can be?
Anyone have comments re: hyrulonic acid and PRP concurrently?
There are various telehealth places that will offer it and you can get it easily online. It doesn’t hurt whatsoever, but you do need to inject it daily near the body part that hurts with an insulin syringe.
My experience with it using it for biceps tendon tears (I have both sides repaired) was that with bpc/tb I healed about 50% faster than when not using it. With triceps tendinosis it completely healed in 2 months (all conservative treatment and some things like PRP did absolutely nothing).
Thanks. Sounds like it’s more for torn muscles than arthritis/knee degeneration
It was first tested in knee pain/degenerstion.
It may be contraindicated for people with certain cancers though bc of the mechanism of action.
Update after the 1-week PRP followup - they want me doing basically nothing to the arm other than stretches/PT for 6 weeks…which means 8 weeks for me as 6 weeks is about when we leave for Europe. ‘Maximum efficacy’ blah blah
Until then, I guess I’ll be hitting the leg workouts and cardo exclusively. BOOOO
I talked to one of my ortho sports med friends and they said that they don’t use PRP for much besides joint arthritis because they haven’t found it to be particularly effective. For tendinosis they usually go from dry needling to peptides then to stem cell therapy.
Understood, that’s the feedback you received. I had personal testimonials from 3 different friends/acquaintenances with the same issue, all long-term success with PRP, another with stem cell but his ended up with a minor fix, he still wears all the braces and a compression sleeve and can’t hit with full force.
I’m hopeful this will work and will do what it takes on my end to make it so.
Good luck with the treatment!
