Agreed, particularly in light of @David.Berman’s confirmation that the prior 4-pack were the Achaval Finca’s. The open question is which bottles are in the 3-pack? Since I’m in the Scottsdale area, I won’t have these shipped until November at the earliest. If someone else receives theirs before then, please chime in.
I didn’t double dip but I’d presume it’s one of the less common of the 4 bottlings. Maybe the Nazarenas isn’t there.
I had ANNIVERSARY20 applied after my order-thanks WTSO. The email said the bottles are AF 2021 Mirador, Bella Vista and Nazarenas.
Interesting. Thanks for sharing. The 2021 Malbec Finca Altamira got some awesome reviews so the folks with the 4 pack should enjoy that one.
I’m pretty new to shopping WTSO. I noticed this blog post today:
It says: " Join us at WTSO.com on July 22 for our Winery Spotlight on San Polino! Which vertical wine tasting will you be starting with?"
Does anyone know how they usually do these? Will they offer 3 packs? Individual bottles? Flash sales? Or is this something new for wtso?
There will be a link at the top of the app page to the “winery spotlight” sale on July 22. Most likely individual bottles to sale, but they could have 3-packs! It looks like they have the wines listed that will be sold. Not new and the sale will last for one full day, or until sold out!
San Polino is a Legit producer and the Helichrysum, in particular, is a nice wine. Vintage matters though.
I’m looking forward to seeing what they offer. I’ve been reading about the estate and their approach to farming and winemaking, and I’m excited to try them.
Most of the Brunellos and Rossos I’ve been drinking have come from the southern part of the appellation, so I’m especially interested in their estate Brunello. From what I’ve read, it blends fruit from both their northern and southern vineyards, and I’m curious to see how those different sites come together in the finished wine.
The Helichrysum also intrigues me. While it’s from their southern vineyards, it comes from higher-elevation old vines with more complex soils than just clay and sand, including galestro and some volcanic-derived material. That seems like it should give it a different expression than other southern producers I’ve enjoyed, like Ciacci.
Are there any vintages in particular that you recommend?
12,13,15,16,19 are generally very good. 14 is a train wreck. Most other recent vintages are worth a shot if the price is right.
WeatherEye Grenache Red Mountain 2021 available at $39.99 today. Has anyone given the WeatherEye a try? Reviews are excellent on CT and by the experts.
I’ve had diff vintages of that grenache. The 2020 was a total banger. Was like a great CdP. I’m contemplating though I have way too much wine.
Thank you! In for 3. I love a good CdP and the Weathereye sounds like just that.
It’s a tough one not to buy for me. The 2020 was a super memorable bottle for me. And I paid $85 for those bottles. I feel like the deals are just coming left and right these days and there’s a ridiculous amount of awesome wine going at 50% off or less. I really like the WeatherEye Bordeaux blends as well. I do believe some of the grapes from their estate are being sold for a significant portion of the production for Kobayashi as well.
I went for it as I already have some Weathereye Syrah from WTSO, love Red Mountian and love the story of the vineyard…
I like the story of the winemaker’s misdemeanors. I’m sure that hasn’t been favorable for the brands.
I ordered two vintages of Helichrysum - one of each. Looking forward to tasting it.
Same and normal '19 as well.
I tried to access the page, but it is currently down and the wine does not appear in the search results either. I guess I will need to contact customer service if I want to buy more. I cannot imagine all the vintages have been sold out.
I bought the WeatherEye Syrah Red Mountain 2020 in Jan. 2025 and have yet to drink it. Paid $50 at WTSO but it had 93 - 97 point ratings. Now at the beginning of a 10 year drinking window, supposedly.
I bought the 2019 cause it was a better vintage. They had both for sale at one point. Also haven’t tried it.
