Today, the Wednesday before the Thursday of Thanksgiving, being the Official Kickoff of the Holiday Drinking Season, I suggest that we:
(1) spread the word about what we consumed tonite (as well as any choice comments regarding the merit (or lack thereof) of said item); and
(2) begin pondering the long, arduous drinking season ahead, and what we might consume during this lengthy bout of consumption.
For me:
(1) 2002 Milan Terres de Noel Grand Cru Blanc de Blancs (consumed while cooking multiple pies (apple & pecan) as well as a large pot of collard greens in preparation for Turkey Day).
Verdict - YUM!
2005 DuMol Syrah (consumed with burgers/fries consumed for dinner so as to avoid turkey/dressing/etc. burnout).
Verdict - YUM!
(2) Over the next 4-ish weeks, I will almost certainly dig into some lovely old barolos – 78s and/or 61s for a good evening of truffle madness, as well as some youngish burgundies (sadly, the only kind I have), as well as an assortment of california pinots (my gf has declared that all Kosta Brownes in my possession are now hers (and that she wants one now!)) and rhone-rangers, as well as many, many, many champagnes.
Hope you do well during the 2009 Holiday Drinking Season.
