I did end up buying 3 of the Patrimony Cab earlier this week. Came still wrapped in OWC which was a nice perk. Looks like those are all gone too in KC.
I was watching that too, but I was really hoping theyād mark the frozen Chilean Sea Bass down
. One of like 3 frozen items they didnāt discount.
If weāre picking anything that Costco sells, I have a very long list⦠I was just going on what little was still in the store.
This is also across the Bay in the Danville location.
I was looking for this in Scottsdale today. No joy.
I had one of the recent-ish vintages of Dame and it was very good. Red fruited, lots of old school / Old World herbaceousness in a good way.
We have had the '16 and '20 this year, and enjoyed them both. IMO it is a decent value at this price point.
Stash some Lanson for a few years. You will be surprised and maybe just a bit wistful that you didnāt buy moreā¦
Oh I am. These bottles are '18 base and Iām sure that oak with integrate better with time. Its still like comfort food for me at home. Definitely will take advantage of the new markdown price to stash a few more.
You guys are making me think I should taste another bottle and potentially reloadā¦
Going for dumplings tonight so maybe, maybe.
Haut Brion down to $499 at the Northland location now. Only need to wait another 18 months for another markdown ![]()
If we are talking Lanson black label here, then yes, reload. I went very heavy on Lanson about 10 years ago and the outcome on these aged bottles has been a revelation. Also, if you can find magnums, grab them. It is Lansonās practice with mags to disgorge them only as they are sold, so the wine spends longer on the lees than the 750ās. The mags then are noticeably richer and more mouth filling. At one point, the difference was so stark that I asked John Gilman if the 750s and mags of Black Label are in fact, the same wine. He advised of the later disgorgement practice of the mags as an explanation and agreed with me the mags are a superior iteration of the same juice.
Pierre Gimonnet does something similar though on a particular schedule. For better vintages of the Special Club Grand Terroirs de Chardonnay they leave the magnums on the lees for some amount of years longer. Its the same wine but they release those with the added moniker of Millesime de Collection.
Not that weāll ever see those at CostCo.
At West Roseville Location in CA
The 2018 Immortal slope at $29.97 has got to be the best price in the country by a lot. @David.Berman I know you have previously stated not loving the 2019, but have you had any experience with the 2018? I was a big fan of the 2014 and 2016 of this wine a few years ago. Recently opened another 2014 and I think my palate has shifted away from this style a bit, but it was still a big well made wine.
Hoping for lower on the 2022 Nenin. Anyone think its worth it at $50/bottle?
50 bucks for Nenin is a great deal. I think it it trades somewhere like 70 or 80 EP. Ages well I still have some 1998s to finish. The fruit takes a long time to shine at this property I think.
Iād actually try some of that Immortal Slope at that price.
I have practically zero experience with Pomerol. I know 2022 should be a great vintage, is Nenin a good representation of Pomerol?
I think Nenin is a little sterner long-lasting kind of Pomerol. The older ones from the '80s and early '90s had some coarseness.
