Ah, thanks for pointing that out. Silly me, didn’t read the talking sheet. Quick glance at the photo and it looked like their red.
The Fountain Valley store still had some of the 2016 Giscours for $74.99 that we’ve all been seeing around. I opened one a few weeks ago and it was terrific, really very open in its early maturity without needing a long decant.

How oaky was it?
Generally, how tolerant of oak are you?
I’m kind of medium and flexible when it comes to Bordeaux, leaning to the less modern/ripe/less oaky side but not dogmatic about it.
The 2016 Giscours seemed pretty medium style to me, not towards either extreme. Hard for me to say whether someone else would find it too oaky or too anything else.
A nice thing is, given the age and open stage at which the wine is, you can do what I did, open one and decide for yourself if you want to go back for more.

They have these bottles at several stores around OC now. I haven’t dipped in for more but probably should.

I haven’t seen a decent 2022 Bordeaux at my local Costcos (outside of first growths.) Would jump all over the Duhart Milon. That 2022 Haut Bages Liberal is good QPR at $52 as well IMO. Really like their wines
$60 for Il Poggione is a great deal. The best part is the 2020 is a little softer and more approachable now compared to the 19’ or 21’s.

My Costco in Las Vegas went from the ‘18 to the ‘20 Il Poggione. They never offered the ‘19
Rossignol Cornu et Fils - Pernand Vergelesses Sous Fretille 1er 2022 49.99 - Any information on this producer? Looking at their website sounds like 2 families came together with Rossignol bringing Pommard, Volnay and Meursault vineyards and Cornu bringing Pernand.
Having just visited Pernand I am intrigued by this white burg. As I understand, this vineyard is near the top of the Fretille hill that rises above the Pernand Village just bellow the virgin statue that looks over the village. I think this vineyard has a reputation of being very mineraly.
I bought one but am thinking I may get several to sit on. it is pretty rare to see a small producer burg at a Costco in Oklahoma.

$299 is a better price on the Palmer…but would LOVE to see $199 like the 20’s and 21’s

yea, when they put 2021 Chateau Mouton Rothschild on sale for $299.97 I bought 4-3 bottle cases. What a deal. Not sure they will do that with 2022.

Some randos from Fountain Valley last night. I picked up a Pieropan after having tried one from the Huntington Beach location a week or two ago. Solid at $16. Maybe more savory than you expect for a Soave.
The CT notes on the Cantelys made it hard to pass up so I grabbed one.
The Lanson at $40 was a can’t miss. This surprised me at a blind tasting dinner last year. Shows more reductive oak the way more classic big house wines do. Shows wood on the palate also but is not overly sweet. I forget which disgorgement it is but with $40 being the new $30, I will pick up a few more for some quick grab midweek bubbles.
The FV location has really moved the bins and shelving around again. There are the two main bins at the ends of the aisles. But then they have this short section off towards the back right where the nicer Bordeaux are, etc.
