Official Costco Thread

The Pieropan should be nice! Have not seen that, let us know what you think.

I stumbled on this thread after stopping by the Apex Costco and seeing the pick up sign! Looks like Scott grabbed the rest but I guess I need to keep a better eye out. I never see much worth writing home about at the Raleigh location

We are longtime fans of the Kirkland Premier Cru Chablis. I bought a few bottles of the 2023 regular Chablis but it is not a repeat buy for me.

Imma grab a couple if it’s still there when I need to go back because it’s fine for the $15, but I was definitely underwhelmed. Ditto for the Pieropan; again, fine and will grab a couple bottles, but I was underwhelmed a bit.

Some decent closeouts. Grabbed the last few Lingua Francas, a couple each of the white and red Burgundies on sale. I couldn’t find much about this producer (Dom. Clos de Poulettes). And a couple of Chalk Hill Estate Reds at $22 to try, W-S low seemed to be ~$50. The Aussie EVOO also seemed like a decent deal, normally selling for $22.

My disappointment is immeasurable and my day is ruined.

I may not get Chianti Classico Riservas, Rioja Reservas, Vino Nobile, nice Barbarescos, Gavi, or actual interesting white Burgundy at my Houston Costcos… but at least we still have the Taittinger World Cup for $39.99?

Overall a poor selection of wines, but the Hamilton Russell Chardonnay is the one to get out of what I saw in the photo IMHO

Don’t bother. Had one, it was actually $18…tasted cheap, boring, zero emotion to the wine…wife liked it so there’s that!

That’s a very good price on the Clos des Lunes. Usually an annual case purchase for me and Costo typically has the best price on it.

The Arbuckle Ridge Morro Rock should be a nice cellar defender/BBQ wine for New World palates, especially for $12. I had a bottle last winter purchased from a PA state store, for a similar price. Lots of ripe fruit, high-ish ABV, decent balance, no weird oak treatment, was crowd pleasing with family.

Jump all over that.

Anyone try the 22 Barolo? Someone told me it’s made by fontafredda.

Did they have anything else worth mentioning? I figured it would be pretty crowded the first couple weeks so I haven’t been yet

They did their demographic research and nothing really of any note that would be geeky.

How much is Krug at Costco?? My Costco sucks so badly. :sob:

Agh, alas!

I agree that we don’t get gems very often at Raleigh and surrounding stores, but every so often they appear and move quickly. Raleigh sold their Pichon Baron before the closeout, but last year there was some 2021 Tignanello for $135 that went quickly.

2022 Haut Brisson St. Emilion for $28 was a good price for a good wine, I bought a few of those. The occasional good sparkler will randomly appear as well, there was actually a crackingly good Prosecco for $12 back in June.

You’ve read this far, I’ll mention that it looks like Costco Garner has a few 2022 Pichon Baron left at $99.97…!

Nice price on the Chat. Baret. A nice cellar defender. Still have 5 bottles of the '16.

I agree but note that that is actually their blanc which I have not seen before. The 2010 rouge as of a couple of years ago was quite nice.
