Since William Lane is a newbie for BerserkerDay, I thought I’d put in a good word. I’ve been helping on their bottling days for several years so I’ve had the opportunity to try nearly all of their wines, and they’re all really good. It’s a plus that Bill and Lane are really nice people too!
Their focus on Mediterranean island grape varieties is unique in California and it’s helped make their wines very distinctive. While a few people are now making Assyrtiko in California, I think the William Lane rendition is the best I’ve tried. And I totally love their Frappato-Nero d’Avola blend, so aromatic! Their other wines follow suit. Give them a try - you won’t be disappointed!

Many thanks @PatrickB! The 2022 High Valley Nero is from an interesting vineyard just east of Clear Lake. At 2,100’, tucked next to a prominent E-W running ridge there is a small planting of head-trained Nero on a well draining southeast facing knoll. This vintage was about 30% whole cluster and has integrated beautifully, IMHO.

Can’t wait for you to try the wines, @Michael.R! Mountain-grown Nero d’Avola in CA is really distinctive. I personally love drinking out of a Pinot glass.

Thanks, @TomM. The frappato blend is killer, and we are down to our last few cases. So enjoy! It’s been such a bummer that we haven’t been able to make it in ‘24 and ‘25. But, we should be back online in ‘26 with a new vineyard in Mendocino.

I opened a bottle of '23 Frappato/Nero d’Avola blend last night. I help bottle at the Treasure Island Wines facility where those guys make their wine. This came from that bottling session. Really delicious! At 11.9% alc, it was easy to drain the entire bottle.
