NYC OL: Chateau Montrose Vertical, THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 17

Our next Bordeaux OL in NYC will be a vertical of a consistently well-performing St. Estephe, Chateau Montrose. It will be held on Thursday, September 17.

The restaurant is Allegretti, 46 West 22nd St (between 5th & 6th Ave). The total price, including tax and tip, will be $75/person.

We’ll limit the attendance to 10 people and shoot for the best vintages.

Here is a list of the vintages that I think (based on critics scores) we should have. When you indicate that you want to attend, please indicate which one of these vintages that you’ll be contributing:

1990, 1989, 2000, 2003, 2005, 1995, 1986, 1982, 1996, 2004, 2001

Of course, suggestions for modifying this list are welcome.

Ben - Date dependent, I would love to attend as Montrose is one of my favorites. From your list, I could provide 96, 00, 04 or 05.

Good to see you organizing stuff here…I told Jim he has to work late that night, so I am taking his spot. Kidding…waitlist please.

Sure thing, Daniel.

OK, it’s time to start the process of picking a date. I’m thinking mid-week (Tue-Thu) in September. Please let me know which of the following dates do or don’t work for you.

Tuesdays: Sept 8, 15, or 22
Wednesdays: Sept 9, 16, or 23
Thursdays: Sept 10, 17, or 24

You can post here or PM me, either is fine.

Thanks.

Posted date preferences over on ebob, figured that would be easier…

Thanks, much appreciated.

OK, the date is set: Thursday, September 17 [dance-clap.gif] . The lineup is shaping up wonderfully.

The next step is to pick a restaurant in Manhattan. I’d like to keep it reasonably priced (around $75, all in), so if you have a suggestion, please let me know. In the meantime, I’ll make some inquiries.

Folks,

I’m happy to say that the restaurant Allegretti at 46 West 22nd Street (betwen 5th and 6th) will accomodate us. The total price for a three-course meal (including steak, if desired), including tax & tip, is $75/person.

I attended a wine dinner there a few months ago and the food was good, the wine service was great, and the stems were fine. The restaurant is easily reached from the 23rd Street stations of the 1, F/V, and R/W trains (and just a bit further from the C/E and 6 trains).

I’ve given my credit card info to guarantee the table, so if you are on the list of attendees and know you will not be able to make it, please let me know as soon as possible.

BTW, I recently attended a Montrose vertical (you can never have too many!) and found the wines consistently good across the vintages.

Looking forward to the 17th!

-Ben
