I am looking for restaurant recommendations for NY midtown area that have an interesting by the glass selection. Interesting food but not too formal as well!

My midtown restaurant experience is limited to an annual business trip, but I had a very good meal with a couple of interesting glasses, while sitting at the bar at Marea. Their website has a sample wine list which now includes “Premium Wines by the Glass via the Coravin System.”

As stated above, Marea is good for wine (and a very good restaurant). Don’t know how tied you are to staying strictly in “midtown”, but Grammercy Tavern in Flatiron is just a 5 minute cab ride (or one or two stops on the subway) south…and it has a great wine by the glass program.
also, ai fiori (one of marea’s sibling restaurants) has a good by-the-glass selection – as well as a nice list overall, and the head sommelier there (Emilie Perrier) is fantastic.
Boulud Sud (the bar and the resturant) usually have interesting BTG options. Some vary by the day (They sometimes open a mag for BTG service for just one evening, so you may want to check their twitter account). Should work, YMMV.
Bar Boulud, facing onto Lincoln Center, is a great place, with a great, ever-changing list by the glass. It’s not quite Midtown, but easy to get to if your on the west side of Midtown.
