NV Veuve Clicquot Ponsardin Champagne Brut

Agree with others who note how lazy snobs love to look down on VC Yellow label because it committed the sin of becoming popular among civilians. Which caused the price to go up. It became so easy to scoff at that bright yellow label without even tasting it. I would challenge people to try it blind. The last couple times I’ve had it it was a solid wine.

Their basic vintage blends have been quite good also. Critics have noted this quite clearly yet the CT scores continue to be lower because that yellow label of course while other similar wines have scores much closer to the critics.

In any case, all will be forgiven if we can have the link to the $30 Ch Heidsieck plox.

My favorite chain restaurant here is Eddie V’s, love their steaks. But they do sell VC Rose for $119 and I buy it every time to encourage that type of pricing, and because I find that Champagne to be very elegant. Like it a lot.

So how was it on day 3, that’s the only way to taste as you have said.

Not wasting $60 to find out.

Also you have never been to an offline where one brings a bottle and it has not been decanted? The pop and pour method for younger wines does not show them at their best.

Only good deal Haskell’s has.

Some of you on this thread are going to start promoting Caymus. Seriously the NV Roederer Anderson Valley is better than the Veuve Yellow label.

Thanks!

$119 for VCR is a GREAT deal for Champagne at a restaurant. Well played.

Post deleted? Wonder what it was?

Wow. All is forgiven. Though I wouldn’t count on finding that wine at $30 these days which is why I grabbed a few. Lowest I’ve seen that over the last couple years is $45.

Then the post was a true success! Cheers. I still have not got any from Haskell’s so better get over there tomorrow.

2012 Charles Heidsieck Brut Millésimé $63.99 at another local shop.

Any chance they ship and / or you ever come to Des Moines? That’s crazy.

Check on shipping. Used to go to Des Moines often for my uncle but passed away a few years ago and used to do wine events down there but went back to the day job.

If you must know, it was me, saying ‘fax’ (facts) on Cris’ post to show where the wine is $30, as you posted it, ergo, the post was no longer needed

Just grabbed 6 at the local Haskell’s by my house. Not a big buyer of Champagne but at this price it works!

Wow! That seems like a screening deal. More times than not I find Costco has some of the best prices and our local Costco has these for around $90 I believe. Might I ask if this is an online retailer as well or just local stuff, and if so…WHO???

And just in case everyone thought $60 was a good deal…
