NV Tissot Cremant du Jura & 07 Breggo Pinot Noir

NV TISSOT CREMANT DU JURA “INDIGENE” & 07 BREGGO AV PINOT - Rockridge, CA (Oakland) (5/20/2009)

These were enjoyed over multiple days. The Cremant originally accompanied carne asada tacos, with homemade salsa and guacamole. The Breggo accompanied a pork tenderloin with red currant sauce.

  • N.V. Domaine Tissot (André & Mireille now Stéphane) Crémant du Jura - France, Jura, Crémant du Jura
This Cuvee was the Indigene which was was terrific. Nutty leesy flavors with red apple, limestone and lemon…it’s got bracing acidity, but is fairly rich in a slightly oxidative style…held up well on day 2. (90 pts.)
  • 2007 Breggo Cellars Pinot Noir - USA, California, North Coast, Anderson Valley
Traci opened this to accompany a pork tenderloin with red currant sauce…I thought a Zin would be better and I was probably right - first time for everything! Tasted over 3 days. Dark cherries, earthy, mushroom compote, a little spice and underbrush. It’s a very nice Pinot Noir that is rich but light on its feet with enough stuffing to drink on its own but with enough structure to enjoy with food. By day 3, it was a little oxidized but still the earthiness came through…excellent. (90 pts.)

thanks for the notes, Tony! Ran into the local Breggo rep and told him that I am dying to try the 08 whites… he said maybe as soon as next week:)

Cool…the Breggo whites, IMO, are second only to Navarro in terms of typicity…

went Noah’s Ark and got two each of both Pinot Gris, Gewurtz and Chard! Just in time for summer in Nickle-Nickle-Nine…
