2006 Shirvington Shiraz Rated 95 POINTS

Robert Parkers, The Wine Advocate: “The 2006 Shiraz was barrel-fermented and
aged for 14 months in 85% new oak, with the barrels 90% American and 10%
French. Saturated purple in color, it reveals a splendid bouquet of smoke,
pencil lead, bacon, grilled meat, and blueberry. Supple-textured and
opulent, this full-bodied Shiraz offers a range of spicy, complex flavors,
superb balance, and enough well-concealed tannin to support 5-7 years of
additional cellaring. This hedonistic Shiraz should drink well through
2026.” Jay Miller, Robert Parkers, The Wine Advocate

Shirvington Winery is where Sarah and Sparky Marquis were making wine before
Mollydooker.

Just an FYI - the 05 Shirvington Shiraz is available at a PLCB store near you (if you live in PA) for under $30.

where are the real deals…

pazzzz pileon

Depends. Someone would have to pay me about $100 a bottle before I drank that stuff. neener

Funny, I know Mr Posner would +1 you there.

I grabbed a few bottles of the 04 or 05 vintage in a distributor closeout for $20 a few years ago. The first bottle was suprisingly not too over the top and rather tasty. i have one left I have been meaning to drink soon.

Do people still drink Shiraz in this country? Much happier with the $27 PLCB closeout on the 03 ESJ Bassetti that my wife came home with last night. [give_heart.gif]

This is freaking hilarious. Best ad I’ve seen in a while. I get so damn tired of retailers BSing me about cost … I stick to a few trusted sources.

It looks like I might have to move back to Pittsburgh, PA

Are they still making wine in Austrailia?

so I’ll +1 it.

If it were a 95 point Bordeaux however…

Kristen, nice to see you take a break from Cinderella to post. [thumbs-up.gif]

I think we gave Florida Jim a glass once. Based on his reaction I bet it would take a lot more money to have him drink a whole bottle.

When Posner puts this on sale, I’ll buy. [gheyfight.gif]
