North County SD/760 Recommendations

I will be at La Costa for four nights next week for a Broker Dealer conference… the days are booked, but I got some nights free to explore. I left in '02 so I should have some geographical sense left.

Any suggestions and cellars would be appreciated:)

La Costa Wine Co" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; It’s about 1 mile north from you in a strip mall that has a bar/restaurant called Crazy Burro. Used to be my hang out place some 20 years ago, great bar scene.

For nice restaurants about 12-15 min south is Solana Beach, there you’ll find Pamplemousse Grille on Via de la Valle on the W side and Market on the same street but E of I 5.

Cheers,
Otto

Wine Street is close to La Costa, as is the Wine Loft. Third Corner in Encinitas is a good wine shop that also is a restaurant. You can buy a bottle and I think it’s $5 for corkage.

Lots of good restaurants in Encinitas, about 15 minutes from La Costa.

i had a buddy work at Wine Street a long time ago… i think i just an email from them that they changed their name (on-line name?)… i’ll probably drift down to Encinitas at least once on this trip, even if it just for a Juanitas carne asada burrito and hanging at Lou’s newhere

Wine Street is La Costa Wine Co.

We passed by a week or two ago and Crazy Burro had a new name also. Wonder if we were ever there at the same time 20 years ago, Otto. I was not cruising, of course. [wink.gif]

Ah, here is a review of the former Burro now the La Costa Grill (I see a trend in the name changes):

Nancy I was a regular there around 88-89, it was a wild place especially Fridays and Saturdays, the small dance floor was packed. It was like the movie Cocktail. But those days are long gone for me.[cry.gif]

Lucky for you, Mel saved you from a boring life. flirtysmile

Yeah, that’s what she tells me [whistle.gif]

Third Corner was very good. I liked the food and atmosphere… wine selection by the glass was OK, and the 06 Navarro Pinot was a little warm (temperature). Would definately go back! Thanks!
