Nice Working Lunch.

I always enjoy working lunches with clients who know and enjoy their wine. Those clients understand that having a glass or two with the meal doesn’t mean that his lawyers are taking his legal matters lightly. On the contrary, those clients insist on having wine during the lunch meeting.

Yesterday was one such lunch. Since my partner and I, as well as our client, had to continue working that afternoon, we decided not to open any bottles and, instead, order wines by the glass as the French restaurant had a decent selection thereof.

I had a kir with my escargots bourguignnone and a glass of rosé from Provençe with my cassoulet. Simple, good and hearty - just the way I like it. My partner had a glass of Pouilly-Fumé with his king crab salad starter and baked cod main course, while our client (who only really enjoys reds) had a couple of glasses of Chinon with his tenderloin steak.

We got all matters at hand done as well. Great work lunch, both productive and enjoyable.

Wine works pretty well as an accessory to work when applied correctly.

Thanks for the post Noel.

Hi, Mark, my pleasure.

Yes, I definitely agree that wine and work can go great together - within reasonable bounds, of course. I wouldn’t drink anything (even a glass), say, while drafting/reviewing a pleading or contract or showing up in court (not that I’ve personally handled full trial in years).

Best,

N
