That’s interesting. What BDX producer’s wines have excited you most? My best experiences to date have been an awesome 61 & a very promising 98 La Mission, 90 LLC, 96 Leoville Poyferre, 95 Pichon Baron and a 03 Leoville Barton. Ironically, a 96 Margaux and 99 HB drank in the last year(probably too young) didn’t wow me… yet.

Congrats Roy on living your dream. Sounds like you made a great decison when 7yrs later it keeps getting better. If you were more of Euro drinker would you have moved to Europe instead?

I might have. It is still not impossible. I already liked Bordeaux a lot, but going there last year really impacted me. I did have one discussion with a 95-99pt Bordeaux vintner about possibly sourcing from the Right Bank for a potential wine but decided that I need to get squared away with my Napa wine first. But I do have thoughts of making wine in both places someday. It can be done.

Great article – here’s to your past, present and future successes. I admire you for following your heart into the wine business. I wouldn’t mind doing the same someday, but at this point it’s just a daydream.
