Nice Lunch with KC

Lovely luncheon with Kent and Christine Comley yesterday at Fino in the Barossa.

2016 Stargazer Chardonnay: Nice restraint without lacking any flesh or intensity. There’s some smoky mineral reduction and pure orchard fruit aromas and flavours. It had a touch of spice, good shape and excellent cut. A classy wine that should age well.

1967 Cavallotto Barolo Bricco Boschis: Wonderfully expressive, with a nose of fresh cherries, black earth, rose petals and spice. The palate is red fruited and gains sweetness in the glass. It plays in that perfect place between sweet and savoury and is a calm, even wine, that is thoroughly engaging the whole bottle through.

Cracking lunch Jeremy. Shame Christine could not help with the wine. The Barolo was a real treat in outstanding condition… you are a naughty boy. Stargazer is a fantastic new Tasmanian producer, their Riesling is also top shelf.

Mate, great to catch up. I thought Christine held up an end beautifully. Particularly since she was still in the 24 hour window where she was not supposed to have a drink!
