New York City, aka Manhattan and the boroughs BYO

What do folks think fair price for BYO is these days? I’m still likely to jump to a restaurant with $35. But when $20-30 cocktails cost at many places, the $50 fee doesn’t strike me as outrageous anymore (at least relative to the cost of drinks).

totally depends on the type of restaurant; level of service, food, and all the rest. we should expect to pay less at a small, local ethnic place vs a famous destination restaurant.

generally for NYC, anything between $25-$50 seems reasonable for a proper restaurant.

but surely there are a few, rarified experiences, where $100 could easily make sense.

Tight space, clunky glasses, busy neighborhood. Fell out of my rotation as well. We would call Brad Trent and have a reunion dinner there lol

I was at Ai Fiori last week. It’s an Altamarea Group restaurant,
They are currently running no corkage Mondays.
Revamped menu. I think they refer to it as “Riviera” cuisine. Fabulous!

good to know as they’re also on inkind which would make a monday meal there dirt cheap.

Went there a little while back with Neil and Leslie. So good!

i try to almost always bring wine (except for places where i actually want to drink theirs…chambers!). ive noticed post covid that some mid-tier spots charge $75-100…mostly to steer you to drink their wine. for $100 corkage at le veau d’or, you can essentially drink 65% of their bottles for the same price or less. i dont necessarily want to but economically it almost doesnt make sense to byob.

$50 or less i don’t balk at whatsoever. anything below $40 i consider a steal.

bridges charges $75…havent been but i asked.

acru charges $45 according to the manager when i asked in person.

This is where I decided to go to. The Grill was too $$$. Chambers had multiple bottles in the $200-400 range of interest. And the food is great too.

I just called them and person said they are not offering it. Standard corkage is $75/bottle, 2 bottles max. That said, this person also refused to check with others, so maybe its new/they are ill informed.

I heard it from another employee who I believe to be reliable. Maybe ask to talk to the somm at some point.

Dialed back… asked to speak to Somm… after a long hold… “Somm isn’t in… But I asked our GM… but apparently your are right, there is no corkage on Mondays starting from today… still a two bottle limit”. Al Fiori and @Mark_Smith_65 for the win!

I was told no corkage Mondays is a new promotion at Ai Fiori.

Even a broken watch is right twice a day. Thanks for confirming!

Laser Wolf corkage is $35 every night. I’ve thoroughly enjoyed my meals there, and the food goes great with white Rhônes.

Serafina locations $35 and on InKind
Rosa Mexicano no corkage
Fig & Olive $50

Seems relatively cheap, for New Dubai.

Been a few times, always beers (sorry, but even if the venue is called City Winery, I can’t bring myself up to order what they’ve shown me in the list) and now I know that chilling with great tribute performances by The Fab Faux and the Early Elton Trio would be cooler when I BYOB my own stuff.
