Could not agree more! Popped a 23 a few weeks ago and when it hit just above cellar temp it was glorious.

Hey @D_Mowe , I’m considering opening a 2023 Mowe Cab for dinner on Friday, just under 48 hours from now. Hoping to open this as a follow-up to a 2001 Angelus - special occasion: 25th wedding anniversary. :slightly_smiling_face:

What decant/slow ox treatment would you suggest? Am I already too late? :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

Hi Tom,

What I have done in the last couple weeks that showed well is the following - morning of go ahead and pour out a few ounces (to top shoulder) and then close it up. Then, about an hour before you want to enjoy it, decant.

ENJOY!!

Thank you, Dustin! Really appreciate this. Looking forward to give it a spin.

Cheers, sir!

@D_Mowe not much I can add that has not already been said about the SB, you have something special in these grapes. A+++ for our first MOWE experience. Keep up the great work

I mean…I hope to gage this one for myself one day…but I’m getting the impression here that THIS is the greatest Napa Valley Sauvignon Blanc made today???

Impossible for me to imagine one that’s better.

I recently tracked down a bottle of the 2018 Dana Hershey SB and i plan to do a side by side with the 2023 Mowe! Also plan to add a few others to the mix, the 2023 Lail Georgia, 2025 Realm Fidelio and maybe some others! Should be very cool to see them side by side

For my money, nothing’s better than a nicely aged (10 years+/-) Peter Michael l’Apres-Midi.

But the Mowe is excellent, no doubt. The Bella Oaks sauv blanc is also gorgeous. Both impressive in their youth, but I’d like to give them a few years and see if they hold up (not saying they won’t).

I’m 99% sure that Aileron Sauvignon Blanc was the predecessor to MOWE. From those that have tasted both, they’ve said MOWE did it better.

ā€œGreatestā€ is a tough word… but to me, it’s easily up there with I-Block and Tench SB, which have been my two favorites. I’ll also admit I haven’t drunk anywhere near all the SBs in the valley

I’ve wanted to try the Aileron SB but I can’t find any whenever I check! I know it’s not being made anymore but usually you can see stuff like that pop up from time to time

Not a Sauv Blanc expert, but I bought a bunch of the Aileron after learning of the connection, but found it to be less precise (more flabby?) than the Mowe. My wife felt the same way, and she’s the Sauv Blanc drinker in the house.

I can 100% confirm this :upside_down_face:

I recently did a Sauvignon Blanc tasting with several of these mentioned and Mowe was tied for WOTN. We had a variety of styles but Mowe just strikes a chord with me personally. While there are some incredible SB being made these days, Mowe is absolutely elite. The lineup included the wines below and I agree with Chris, the Bella Oaks is gorgeous. Don’t sleep on Impensata either. It tied Mowe for WOTN in our blind tatsing.

2023 Arietta On The White Keys
2023 Impensata
2024 Realm Fidelio
2024 Bella Oaks
2022 Kinsman Eades Aisana
2023 Lail Georgia
2023 Frog’s Leap Concrete Aged

Curious where you landed the Lail, Frogs Leap and Kinsman?

I thought the Lail was good just more tropical, whereas I prefer more citrus. That wine did score 100 points too for what it’s worth.

The 2025 Fidelio was great for my palate, a little more green than the Lail, which I liked.

After tasting some higher end domestic Sauv Blancs I do really enjoy the La Pelle especially for the money. Maayan also makes that wine (as well as the Lail, and I’m sure a lot of other amazing SB’s)

Not I-Block but this is pretty nice and I think I paid $40ish for it with discount. Just opened it now, very peachy:
