Mailer arrived here yesterday. The rustic and simple look of the mailer is still a throwback to the old days and I wonder how long before they finally take the process to electronic?
Anyway, who has got a crack at the 2007 petite sirah? Anyone yet? Same price as the 2006s, yet this time no division of bottlings, as it seems Bob has reverted back to the single blend.
Stag’s Leap Wine Cellars has that same antiquated look about their mailers - odd, since they have all that acquisition money. You’d think they would produce some cost-effective and current-technology pieces.
I don’t recall the Petit Sirah at Family Winemakers - they had 4 or 5 wines there, but I don’t think they had the PS. Anybody remember?
Word around the campfire is that it is excellent.
I received the mailer today. This is my second year on the list. On some wines, such as the Griffin, I’ve been offered a generous quantity (24 bottles). This, in spite of the fact thay Foley says they’ve produced less wine this year.
Dan, I just saw your other post on ERP. You know, the Griffin sounds like something I can go 2-3 bottles on. I tend to prefer more fruit in my wines so while I don’t own much cab, I could see this working out OK for me. The PS is a must buy so that’s a handle pull for sure. I was a little perplexed by the price increase on the 06 PS from Foley but I swallowed that and bough last year so thankfully, there was no price jump on the 2007 PS. At $60, that’s about as much as I will pay for PS.
Frankie - is the '05 Foley PS any good? It’s pretty soft on the secondary market, around $40.00
It is good and I did reload a couple bottles from Wine Ex, where they had some on the floor for less than release price. I found that odd but in these times, I never know what to expect from the wine world.
… and their 2-day air shipping price for a case is $40!!!
I’m in for a case and a half!!!
