Need restaurant recs for Paris

I’m going for a trip with the missus to Paris and was wondering if any of you could point me in the direction of a restaurant or two with good food, good wine selection and not too exorbitant prices (if such exists) ? I remember seeing a few posts about this earlier, but any amount of searching could not bring them back up for me.

Update: Got reservations at Spring Saturday night, and am running into a weird French custom of economic self flagellation, where they close the restaurants on Sundays. Anybody have recs for Sunday fare?

Two places we ate last fall that fit your description. Septime is a bit more expensive, and might be a tougher reservation. Never found an email for them, but they speak perfect English, so a phone call should do it. Do a search here for Paris restaurants and you’ll find several threads with lots of recs.

Septime restaurant
80, rue de Charonne
Paris 11e.
M°: Charonne.
Tél. 01 43 67 38 29

Les Fines Gueules restaurant
43 rue Croix des Petits Champs
75001 Paris
Contact: lesfinesgueules@free.fr
Phone: +33 1 42 61 35 41

Focus your search. Searching for “Paris” in thread titles only, and pulling up threads instead of posts, quickly uncovers:

Check out this blog. It has served us well on a couple of trips:

Look over the Paris Wine Bar entries.

Just keep reading Jeremy Holmes current and continuing ventures, he probably will have visited every restaurant by the end of his current trip…

My wife and daughter are also going to Paris this summer. When we were in Naples, FL I asked my friend Jacques Cariot who owns Bleu Provence (maybe my favorite restaurant) where they should go. Here: http://www.amijean.eu/

I have not been there, but by mid July my Bride will have an opinion.

Thanks all, and to Fleming; I apologize for being an idiot, I actually attempted to do that search. Fail. This is great stuff.

Thanks for the recommendations. I am forwarding them to my brother.

However, I am confused now about the actual location of Le Comptoir (I also see reference to Le Comptoir du Relais). On the Rive Gauche, or Right Bank? I see both addresses…

FWIW - these were my two favorites last month:

http://www.maisonconstant.com/eng_violon.htm - tasting menu was 80 Euros, collection of other plates being served
http://www.auxlyonnais.com/ - food much more reasonable, but I spent a bunch on wine instead

9 Carrefour de l’Odéon
6th Arr. (Rive Gauche)
Paris

It’s in the Hotel Relais Saint-Germain. http://www.hotel-paris-relais-saint-germain.com/

And it’s damn good.

Uncle Bob offers some options here.

Having visited about half of these places and no matter RMP’s preferences, I’d still recommend Papilles, Juveniles, Verre Vole, and Willi’s among others.

Great little place in the Marais, over near Pompideau Centre, called Le Hanger, 12 impasse Berthaud 01 42 74 55 44. If you’re taking the Metro, its the Rambuteau stop.

Violon d’ Ingres. Awesome food. Preferred it to Taillevent possibly because it was a lot easier on the wallet.

Crazy part for me was that I walked in exactly at 7:00 and managed to grab a seat. They were full-up for the night, but I told them I’d do the tasting menu, drink a lot of wine and then offered to sit in the kitchen or have them shove me in a corner. They shoved me in a corner

Great place and the pigeon dish I had was one of my top 5 dishes. See link above.

An easy way to eat well in Paris is to look for the Routard decal in the window.

Bump for my Sunday question.

Open Sundays:

Bofinger (all of the Flo Group are open as I recall. Bofinger is the best).
L’Atelier Robuchon or La Table Robuchon. L’Atelier only takes reservations for 6:30. After that you wait on line.
Mon Vieil Ami
La Bastide Odeon
Le Relais de l’Entrecôte, all three locations (no reservations)
La Rotisserie du Beaujolais
Fish (La Boissonnerie)

From my post on a similar Travel thread, “heres 2 winners for you and they happen to be close to La Tour dArgent: La Rotisserie du Beaujolais, across the street on the corner and Mon Viell Ami located at 69 Rue St.-Louis en l’Ile. The latter is smaller and darker in comparison and has a better wine list. Food and service is great at both.”
For lunch, Willis Wine Bar [previously mentioned] is excellent.

Add to this list:
Reminet
Fontaine de Mars
Le Cinq
