I’ll be bringing this wine to an offline on Friday evening, and don’t know what kind of air exposure this needs to show its best. Anybody have experience (preferably recent) with this wine? TIA.
Drank a bottle a week ago. I put it in a decanter for five hours and it softened up a bit, but it didn’t show what it will in another 10+ years. I put the leftovers back in the bottle, recorked it and put it in the fridge. Three days later, the nose was gorgeous with greater flavor on the palate.
… maybe I should pull the cork now!!!
I know it’s but a baby, but it’s going to be popped this Friday nonetheless.
The sooner the better.
I would open it now. Here’s my TN from last month.
TN from day 10. Honestly a bit awkward the first day or so. Bright golden with a beautiful perfumed, stony, green apple, citrus nose. Weightless and simultaneously very deep on the palate. Mouthwatering in nature, a perfectly chiseled and focused wine that in spite of its gem like clarity has a roundness and a creaminess to it. It has enough flesh to beautifully balance its structure. Huge minerality, marzipan, salt, and more rocks. This comes off as completely effortless. I could easily drink a bottle of this. A beautiful wine that is so much better day 10 than on the first day. A Great future. If you open one soon, don’t be afraid to open it a week early. Well done! 94
OK, I’m sold. Pulling the cork now.
Be sure to have a taste every day so you can observe how this evolves… say, 1/2 glass each time…
Yowza! Cork was soaked about 70%, and had streaks all the way to the top; glad I didn’t hang on to this particular bottle for the long haul.
Jimbo,
The whole thing is being consumed at an offline on Friday night. I do get a pretty good price on it out here, however, so if I like it a lot I may go buy another one and do the day-by-day thing with it.
I’ve had this wine (and the 2001 Cuvée 375) at least 30 times; I just pop and pour. It’s gorgeous.

I’m with you Alan. Saw this thread and pulled a bottle out tonight. Great wine right out of the gate! I’m sure it has many years ahead of it but was terrific tonight.
this fabulous wine was being given away for ridiculously low prices
for a long time and I backed up my little truck more than once.

I’ve been eyeing a few bots here locally for $40? I guess I should snag-um???
That’s a good price, Brian.
I like them with 4+ hours. Interesting that you opened it on Wednesday. Please report back how it goes?
Will do.
Took a little sniff of the bottle before re-corking for the event: it smelled … how do I say … ummmmmmmmm … like it’s not going to suck.
Brian…it is just a AC Alsace; and also it is a brand.
what is your point, Peter? your post confuses me.
Is the 1999 Trimbach Riesling Cuvée Frédéric Emile a pop and pour? I have two, and was planning to drink one soon and the second bottle in many years.
Hi Brian…my post was written as a joke to someone who posted in this Board some weeks ago and keeping on insisting to many posters that : he questioned and doubted *CSHune and Cuvee FE * were registered AC wines and that they were brand-names invented by Trimbach… or someting similar to that…
