Napa winemaker here, new to the forum

Hey thanks for the welcome! There are a few brands that I act as sort of a “phantom” winemaker (this practice is something I didn’t realize was common until I set out as a consultant) I’m working with Hope and Grace in Napa and working on a really exciting Cab project with Beaureguard Wines in the Santa Cruz mountains that should be released later this year. Looking to make a few hundred cases of my own label this year if I can lock down the right fruit source

I believe in the process of science wholeheartedly, I don’t consider myself “Anti” anything, I don’t think that accomplishes much. I also don’t wish for anyone to think as I do and I don’t require people to be anything other than a genuine version of themselves to associate with them. I understand there is much divide in the world and in the wine industry. I do see wine as a wonderful mechanism of connection and therefore, something to embrace and encourage as much as possible. I spoke about this a little bit during my Podcast interview with Priyanka French who is a winemaker here in Napa.

Kind of unnecessary.

I’m an open book! Benn very blessed to work with and alongside some of the most talented people in the business. This industry is full of amazing people with lots to share

Agreed. There are myriad places on the internet to fight about this subject. Mr. Lynch’s interjection of the subject into a thread that had absolutely nothing to do with the subject is unnecessary, rude, and quite frankly seems unhealthily obsessive about the subject.

Given how much WB and the wine press discuss winemaker values, mostly in terms of winemaking or farming practices, I think it’s fair to evaluate their other values, especially when said winemaker puts them in the open. (Why I think it relevant, @whitmanlholt)

I didn’t ask David about his beliefs regarding requiring vaccinations for healthcare workers, he put it out there in his commercial profile. I disagree with it and I wouldn’t patronize his business or any other business that espouses that nonsense. That’s my line.

Seriously, dude, you’re the one who brought the subject here. You went out of your way to hunt this information down off the board and then interject it into a thread that had nothing to do with it. This is not the place for whatever crusade you’re pursuing. Please take it elsewhere (mods: consider deleting all these posts, including mine, or stripping out into a separate Asylum thread). Thank you.

I just googled who this guy was and it was right there.

I answered him.

As a note, I flagged your post for mod review (request below). My justification is its a slippery slope as far as what spills over from the politics forum. I understand the frustration, and the idea that social values play a roll in choosing who you buy wine from. I do think its past the line of what belongs on this specific forum, however, thus asking the moderators to decide.

“I’m not sure if this is violating the rules being outside the politics forum, but it sure seems about as close as you can get. Requesting mod review.”

Fair enough.

There was nothing political about my original response. OP asked for specifics.

I don’t have a problem sharing perspectives or hearing them, although I didn’t feel this was the forum to push that. My intention here was to connect with consumers and professionals who share a love for wine and to offer my experience and point of view based on 16 years of making wines in the Napa Valley and other wine growing regions in CA.

High end/ cult wines and vineyards in Napa are a point of interest for many people and I hope to be able to share what I’ve learned about them from the inside out. There are so many layers and details that go into producing these almost mythical wines and I’d like to demystify things for anyone interested.

Stephen, as someone who is a long time, active member of this board, you should know better than anyone that politics and personal insults are not allowed on this board. You and I may have different views than the OP, but it does not give you the right to demean him.
