Napa Wine News

Interesting article in todays Napa Register about wine sales or lack thereof, not that it’s new.
Bill Harlan even comments the wait list for their wines have not been as long of a wait, they still sell out.

pretty interesting article and I agree that the wineries that have cash and can afford to keep going business as usual are going to win. I also agree that discounting your brand is a bad thing in the long run but going out of business is worse. It will certainly be interesting to see where things sort out.

Thanks for the article, Carrie. Also some other very interesting reads in the NVR. I lived in Napa from '93 - '95, and I can see they are really cracking down on DUI enforcement (not unlike any other region in CA) but they were much more lenient back then…much more! And listing all the names. If that’s not a deterrent, I don’t know what is!

You’re right Tbone. When I read it each month, there’s always a laugh or a cringe at a name or two in there. It’s a very good deterrent…to the point that I guarantee it crosses people’s minds when they’re out there having their fourth drink and deciding whether to walk/cab it or drive. Very embarrassing.

As to the article…very good time to be in the warehousing biz.

they may still sell out, but they are working a lot harder to get there.
