Napa Syrah Recommendations

Has anyone mentioned Lagier Meredith? [cheers.gif] newhere

While not in Napa, try to find Carlisle Syrah. Just as good as his Zins. His mailing list is full.

Also from Sonoma, Scherrer Syrahs are excellent.

Well, we’re starting to get into Sonoma now so I’ll put in a plug for MacLaren. Not sure if it’s your style - leaner, lower-alcohol, more “Rhonish” than most mentioned here, sourced from cooler-climate vineyards. Tasting room right off the plaza in Sonoma.

Nah, you’re right. I was careless. I was thinking that “The Other” was the petite and they also made a syrah. They make a grenache, and I presume still make a zin and a couple of cabs, but not a syrah.

That’s a good one but it’s from Edna Valley.

What? Lagier-Meredith? Do they make Syarh-based wine?

More seriously, Kamen. Also, School House.

Since we’re talking Sonoma, another to try is Enkidu.

Unti is a small house ypu may want to check out

HdV’s Californio is a favorite of mine.

No, but it’s a nice trip up the mountain through the secret gate with the secret password just to see the Hall of Fame wall with autographs of Tom Seaver’s friends coming to taste his wine. Then you can go further up the road past the DO NOT ENTER sign to Black Sears at the top of the mountain, where they last made a syrah years ago. BUT appointments are necessary and they both make great zins.
