Hard question to answer, especially generally. I tend to support a small group of wineries I like year in and year out and trust that they will produce/release wines that meet their standards. That said, I have reduced the number quite a bit throughout the years. I also look at drinking certain vintages earlier than others based on the vintage conditions. And, there have been vintages labeled as subpar that have turned out to be pretty good wines, depending on preferences. I recall a recent thread that mentioned 2011 and 2017.
Their 20 Dico is killer. I expect that their 22s may be on par with the 21s
I will try a 20 this weekend. How long did you decant?
Not long! An hour should do!
Thanks.
Let me know how you like it!
Why? We saw what MB did. I generally want to give the benefit of the doubt, but I donāt see why with such difficult vintages that many didnāt release.
Its their 65 dollar wine. Regardless its excellent. If people dont want it, itās their loss
I tasted with Will last month - Shifflett Ranch and Oakville. Oakville was pretty much ready to go now - low tannins and plenty of fruit. Shifflett Ranch would be the medium term drinker. Tannins not too strong, some time in the decanter and Iād think good to go or give them a couple years. Heat made block selection important and low yields were a result. Go with winemakers you trust (I also bought DI CO 2022 but havenāt tasted).
