“Myriad’s 2012 vintage is another big time winner that is going to be an enormous
crowd-pleaser. Plenty of rich fruit, glycerin and body, stunning power and admirable overall harmony, purity, juiciness and sucrosity, perhaps Napa’s greatest vintage since 2007”
~ Robert Parker - Wine Advocate Issue #209/October 2013"
Twenty-Twelve was a phenomenal vintage! With fantastic reviews across the board on these wines, we are very excited to get these into your hands and onto your tables. As usual, our production remains small and hand crafted & a three bottle minimum will apply to all orders. (Yes, mix & match is OK)
WINES
2012 Myriad Cellars Cabernet Sauvignon - Napa Valley $50
216 cases produced
Darn, I was hoping the Dr. Crane Reserve would help take the heat off of the non-reserve pricing. I suppose the 12% increase makes up for last years 0% increase, but I can see this one slipping away - hopefully I can hang in there and purchase the 2013’s - after that it will probably be sayonara baby!
About the RP quote - not a fan of the word sucrosity as it seems a bit falsely scientific for a tasting note. Is sucrosity better tasting than fructosity or glucosity? How about just mentioning a slight, natural sweetness instead?
Joe, I agree. I caught that too. The ‘glycerin’ would have sufficed.
Emperor Joseph II: My dear young man, don’t take it too hard. Your work is ingenious. It’s quality work. And there are simply too many notes, that’s all. Just cut a few and it will be perfect.
Mozart: Which few did you have in mind, Majesty?
The Dr Crane is great as is the GIII. The Three Twins showed wonderfully last week as well.
Not sure what $$ you have for this. if its your first time you owe it to yourseld to at least get one of each and see for yourself. From there you will formulate your own opinions and be happy to help anyone asking the same in 2-3 years.
In such a case I would 1-Crane, 1 GIII, 1 Three Twins, 2 Napas and one white to fulfill the sixer.
All of them. There isn’t a dud in the mix. Buy what you can afford?
Barrel samples notes from April…
12 Myriad G3 black currant, blackberry, blueberry, nicely layered, good spice mix
12 3 Twins all fruit nose, no spice shut down but creamy fruit and tannins hit late.
12 Napa Valley voluptuous, winner!
12 Crane Elysian big round bold deep dark rich fruit great spice and tannin slight bubble gum note on the finish knockout!
12 Dr Crane more subdued than the Reserve, dark red blue creamy gritty tannin
Does anyone know why there isn’t a Spring Mountain Cabernet released? I noticed I purchased a 2010 Myriad Spring Mountain a few years ago and when I drank it this February, I thought it was absolutely stunning. I guess not having it helps with buying my allocation this release, but I still thought it was a fantastic bottle of wine and would have liked to have more.
